P5. Discuss ethnocentrism in that it is an idea that we are correct about something but may not see what others may see.that is, we may not be right or that our priorities may be different than others as seen in both videos. We experience things based on many factors, perception (a biological function) and means others see the world differently than we do. When we know that others do have the same experiences, do not see the same things, and have a different world view we can begin to acknowledge their differences as a result of their worldview and not always an absolute sense of knowing we are us and yet we alone are right. This is known as cultural relativism.

P1.
One of the reasons why misrepresentation and distraction happen in humans is our tendency to focus on one stimulus while ignoring others. In the video by Aleksas Drozdovskis entitled “Basketball Awareness Game” it could be seen how the makers were able to conceal the moonwalking bear in plain sight by making the viewers aware of a single visual stimulus (i.e., the number of ball passes). In other words, as anthropologists, we must be able to be cautious about focusing our senses on a single concept, stimulus, or idea rather than adopting a holistic point-of-view.
P2.

As could be seen from the video by Drozdovski, it is easy to not notice things that we are not looking for in a situation. This is particularly true when we are giving too much effort on focusing in a single stimulus. However, upon viewing the video from the end (or after viewing it entirely) we would learn that by having an awareness of these stimulus our senses immediately notice what we cannot see previously. In fact, upon replaying the video, one could focus his senses in counting the number of passes while also being able to notice the bear.

Option 1: Mathematics-Oriented Career Education Planning Chart Complete the Mathematics-Oriented Career Education Planning Chart on page 358 of Math Instruction for Students with Learning Problems for your case study student. Even if your student is in elementary school, this chart is still applicable. As a teacher, you may decide some of the categories under the subdomain column, but some might be guided by the student’s interests. Use the Mathematics Content Codes on page 230 of Math Instruction for Students with Learning Problems. Note. You may reformat the chart to fit your needs as long as it is clear, organized, and contains the same headings. Option 2: Content Integration Planning Chart Create a chart similar to Figure 7.3 on page 214 of Math Instruction for Students with Learning Problems for your case study student. Decide which subject you want to integrate with mathematics to design a unit. The Unit Problem must be like the example: a question that is open ended, requiring investigation, without a set answer. This does not have to be connected to the unit plan or previous lesson ideas for your case study student. Keep in mind the difference between a concept and a skill. Note. You may reformat the chart to fit your needs as long as it is clear, organized, and contains: A Unit Problem and three questions with corresponding concepts from both mathematics and another subject. (SEE ATTACHMENT FILES) Submit a compilation of the Student Profile, Assessment Analysis, Assignment Revision and Life Skills or Content Integration Plan as a Word document by Sunday. Marlie gave the bank a security interest in all her present and future assets. Jordan is a dealer in imported chandeliers. He and Marlie agree that he will give her possession of a dozen chandeliers to sell on his behalf. Marlie is not obliged to pay for the chandeliers unless she keeps them for more than 30 days. Marlie goes into default on her loan. The bank seizes all of her inventory, including the 12 chandeliers. Jordan finds out about the seizure and demands the chandeliers, saying that they are his, but the bank disputes this. Is Jordan entitled to get the chandeliers back? One of his female employees has made a complaint to the Alberta Human Rights Commission against Luke concerning gender discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace. The employee alleges that she and the other women lifeguards were recently forced to wear newly issued skimpy company bikinis instead of the previous one-piece suits while performing their lifeguarding duties. Those who refused would be given last choice on shifts (which, practically speaking, meant that they would be getting no shifts). The complainant protested to Luke but eventually gave in since it was too late in the summer to find another job. Additionally, the employee claims that, since the female staff was forced to wear the bikinis, Luke drops in constantly for site visits. His visits with females are more frequent and much longer lasting than with male staff. In fact, it is alleged that these visits have earned him the nickname of “Leering Luke.” Several female employees have told Luke that they find his behaviour unwelcome and are uncomfortable wearing the bikinis. Luke knows about his nickname but stands behind his policy. According to Luke, business has increased and, as a result, there has been more to “supervise” at each visit. Explain the concepts of gender discrimination and sexual harassment. Identify facts in the scenario which may support the employee’s claim and consider what other unstated facts, if proved, might also provide support. Identify a defense that Luke may raise. State your conclusion whether the situation involved discrimination or harassment, referring to the relevant facts and the strength of the defense. CREATIVE BRIEF Assignment Client: Date: Assignment: Client Signed By: Briefed By (your names here): Due: PROJECT DESCRIPTION /1 This project should showcase the new slogan of Pepsi – Dare for More. It must have a strong impact to its viewers through the use of visual elements and a catchy storyline that would leave a sort of an emotional aftertaste to the viewers. In line with the current day issues, it must include the use of actresses as the protagonists, while also showing Pepsi in strategic focal points. WHAT ARE THE COMMUNCIATIONS OBJECTIVES? (Behaviour you’re trying to change) at least 2 /4 This video should show difference from the norm as envisioned in Pepsi’s slogan. This effect could be measured by the reactions of the people about the advertisement itself relative to the advertisements of our competitors. Based on the reactions of the audience to this difference, the brand could change its packaging to entice more customers. Additionally, this is relevant because of the strength of the competitors in establishing a strong brand identity. Lastly, this experiment would be done for this quarter. Another objective of the video is to show its concern for the current issues in society. The perceptions of the people towards this corporate social concern (i.e., current issues in feminism) could be measured through surveys (Bunting, 2004). By doing this, the company could also leverage helping others while also increasing its brand recognition relative to others. The observation for the results of this experiment would be done within a month. WHO IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE? /4 The target audience would be the youth who are residing in the urban areas. In terms of geographic segmentation, the advertisement would target those in the cities that has access to both the advertisement as well as the product itself. This would optimize the effectivity of the advertisement in communicating its message. As for demographic segmentation, it would focus on the youth. The primary reason for this is because people of old ae would have many dietary restrictions, and this allows soda. Thus, in order to increase the effectivity of the commercial, we would focus more on the said population. In terms of behavioral segmentation, it would be best to direct the advertisements towards both who already knows Pepsi as well as those who don’t. However, focusing on those who don’t would also be effective as it would help increase its consumer base (Trott, 2016). In terms of psychographic segmentation, focusing on the youth would be advantageous because of the trend these days to “think differently”. In turn, through the consumption of the product, this message would be emphasized. WHAT IS THE CONSUMER INSIGHT? /2 “I think that these days, doing things ‘differently’ also refers to the company’s focus towards giving back to the society. This is what a strong brand means. A brand that resonates with the issues happening around them”. WHAT IS THE BENEFIT WE ARE TRYING TO COMMUNICATE? /2 The benefit that we are trying to communicate is the chance to be “different” and the idea to achieve more WHAT CAN WE OFFER AS SUPPORT FOR THIS? /1 In order to realize this project, Pepsi would offer all of the support that it could provide as long as it is within the scope of the conditions and agreements provided thereof. This includes financial, logistics, and informational support among others. WHAT IS THE BRAND’S CREATIVE STRATEGY/CAMPAIGN THEME? Campaign Theme /1 The main campaign theme would revolve around Pepsi’s current slogan “Dare for More” *Appeal Technique(s) /2 In order to increase the appeal of the advertisement, we would include general issues these days and incorporate it to the overall theme of the advertisement. *Creative Tactic(s) /2 We would also include throngs of people singing in the background in unison. The song must be one that would elicit a strong emotional appeal. WHAT’S REQUIRED / MANDATORIES/ EXECUTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS? /2 This video must put into focus Pepsi’s slogan, have a relevance to current day issues, and have a strong emotional appeal to all the viewers. FINAL PAPER: A single image of fashionable dress, as defined by the focus of this course, will serve as the basis for exploration and analysis of both historical style and the image itself. The image both guides and focuses the paper: a successful paper consistently analyzes the period and each category through the original image. Each paper will address somewhat different topics, but for the most part will consider cultural context, designer, artist, model, materiality, etc. This assignment builds upon the skills developed in Integrative Design Studio and Seminar. Due dates are staggered throughout the semester; each component is graded separately (late work and plagiarism policies in effect for each part). Papers are to be five pages; length assumes Times New Roman or similar font (12 points) or 250 words per page, double-spaced, with a one-inch margin on all sides, and additional footnotes, illustrations, and bibliography, with formal academic structure and language. Spelling and grammar, as well as Parsons-mandated formatting (Chicago Manual of Style, Turabian, 16th edition), will be counted toward your final grade, as well as quality and number (minimum six) of sources.

You will be expected to find current news articles pertaining to the current topics in the Strategy course and to describe issues related to the 3C’s and 4P’s. Most often, firms that are in the news are in the news for a “bad” reason – they’ve made a mistake and lost customer support which has led to declining purchases, negative word of mouth, etc. Using the week’s relevant material, I’d like for you to: 1. Tell me what the problem is (the firm is experiencing problems because…..) 2. Suggest 1-2 reasons for why the firm might be struggling (e.g., the firm is struggling because it produced a product that is inconsistent with the brand image or the firm is struggling because a competitor produced a better product) 3. Propose a reasonable way forward (i.e., what the firm can do to mitigate losses or to recover from losses in profits). By “reasonable,” I mean a solution the firm could actually implement in order to improve. This recommendation should be specific (not, “I recommend the firm research what consumers want or the firm needs to advertise on social media) and should follow logically from your analysis on the first two points. Full marks will be awarded to assignments with a specific, logical plan of action that makes sense given potential budget constraints. If you recommend overly expensive social media or advertising campaigns without considering the firm’s budget and resources, your recommendation is likely to be considered one that is superficial. That is, your recommendation should be feasible and reasonable, especially given the current economic climate with tight budgets. Your assignment should be no more than 2 pages, double spaced, 12 point font. If you prefer to write less, that is fine as long as you answer the questions put forth above. You will complete four of these assignments and I will drop your lowest score. Because of this policy, I will not accept late submissions. Perhaps unsurprisingly components 2 and 3 above are the most important parts of the assignment and will be weighed most heavily. All material should come from current issues in the news – I do not want you focusing on problems firms faced and “solved” a year ago, I want you to focus on the issues of that week. Trusted news sources include many major media outlets (WSJ, Financial Times, NY Times) as well as marketing trade publications (American Marketing Association, AdWeek). Please avoid using opinion pieces for the basis as they are not held to the same standards of journalistic integrity and might be biased. I will provide feedback on your written assignments – as such, they might take some time to grade, especially if I am unable to access consistent childcare during the pandemic (1-2 weeks). Please keep this in mind.
