Admission Essay – Should the Rules for NHL Hockey be Changed to Prevent Head Injuries?

Hockey is perhaps one of the most popular and well-known sports for the people living in the West. Whether it be in Canada or the United States, people have always seen hockey as a form of sport and a cultural representation of their desire for the fast-paced and exhilarating friendly game. However, despite the supposed ‘safety’ brought about by the players’ gears and the rules established by the league, there are times when the game could get heated up, thereby resulting in injuries between the parties.
In my experience watching hockey leagues and match offs, I know that one of the favorite things that players want to do is hit their enemy in the head. Whether it is a sign of camaraderie or a form of antagonism against one another, what is clear is that these acts could cause damage to the other if nothing is done against this. Thus, I firmly believe that it is already time to completely ban ‘hits on the head’ due to the long-term damage that it could cause.

One of the main reasons why I strongly propose against ‘hits in the head’ is the inefficiency of a ‘mediocre’ regulation to prevent concussions. In the past few decades, there have been many changes in the NHL’s policy, which includes the prioritization of the players’ safety. However, as evidenced in the article written by Roarke (2012), he noted that the concussion rates still seem to increase despite the presence of the rules and regulations erected by the league. One example of this is the various rules and regulations against these kinds of hits (like Rule 48), but these have not been totally effective in reducing concussion rates among hockey players.

You are to create a thoughtful and reflective essay that includes a minimum of four paragraphs (a paragraph must contain a minimum of three sentences, even though APA states two sentences) that addresses the expectations as listed below. This reflective essay may be written in first person because this is your personal reflection. The reflection must be based on the signature assignment, which was two Problem Based Learning (PBL) clinical patient cases. This assignment is graded on how well you address the expectations of the reflection, please make sure you address each of the expectations as listed below! Expectations of reflection: 1. Introductory paragraph that describes: -the signature assignment of the Problem Based Learning clinical case study. -How does what you learned through completing this signature assignment connect to the learning outcomes in this course? (you must write about how they connect to at least 2 of the 3 course CLOs) CLOS Assess the various techniques of periodontal therapy. Analyze a problem based case to meet the comprehensive needs of a patient. Justify the need for surgical periodontal treatment referrals. Completing these two pbls helped me understand the topics of implants and orthodontics. We were given two patients and from the case study our prpofessor gave us a particular topic that we had to address and become professional in. – Describe the gains over the term you have made in achieving the CLOs. The gains I have made is that I am better to understand the involvement of perio and how it affects orthodontics and implants. With orthodontics I learned that it cannot be placed if it the patient has osseous crater, furcation’s, and three-wall defects. With implants I learned that there are so many times and each one is used for specific reasons. 2.A paragraph (or more) that includes: What challenges did you encounter in completing this assignment? -The challenges I encountered was findings new research in the recent 2 year about my topic. Most of the researches were from years ago. How did you solve these challenges? -I solved these challenges by getting extra help from our school librarian. What were the successes you had in completing this assignment? The success was that I was easly about to find information nabout my topic and it was pretty easy to go into detail about them. 3. A paragraph (or more) that discusses your learning throughout this term: Describe the learning process throughout the course, what it felt like as you progressed and mastered certain skills (developing key facts, hypothesis, learning needs and applying these to effective poster board presentations). Through out this term it was difficult retaning all the information of periodontology. There is a lot of key facts that need to be memories in order to figure out what status the patient is. In order to be able to see if a patient is periodontally involved you need to go and check many things. What skills have you obtained from the PBL process and how will you apply those skills to private practice? -The skill I have obtained is that now I can easily research a topic and learn about it in detail. It can help me in private practice because I know now what periodontally involved patients need or how to diagnose if they are periodontally involved. Discuss the skills you are still developing related to the PBL process and your plans to continue your learning to ensure you remain knowledgeable and competent in the future. -These skills that I have obtained will help me when I graduate and become a RDH. I can take this to private practice where I will need to explain all these information to the dentist when with a patient. 4.A paragraph (or more) that discusses a connection between what you studied in this course and what you learned in previous courses. -What I have learned in this course plays the most important role in my clinic class. I. need to know these information when seeing a patient in order to successful create a correct dental hygiene care plan. Specifically describe how what you learned in other classes enhance what you learned in this class. -Last term in the periodontology class I was in it helped me learn the basis information for this applied periodontology. Reflect on what you thought about the CLO’s at the beginning of the class and how you think about them now. Please look at the clos I provided above and make something up. What has changed in your assumptions and understanding? Please write something

1. Provide an assessment of what makes Congoleum a good LBO target. 2. Evaluate the LBO proposal and determine the value of the firm if it undertakes the LBO and compare this to the existing value of the firm. Your valuation analysis (based on the assumptions above) should be the bulk of your report and serve to answer this question. Provide sensitivity analyses. 3. Quantify the incremental effects of the LBO (as compared to no LBO) on Congoleum as a whole, and attribute portions of the sizable purchase premium to: the cost savings in corporate expenses, the step-up of asset values for depreciation, and the interest tax shields. In addition, if any of the value added from the LBO is unexplained by these three factors, explain where you think this additional value may be coming from. 4. Quantify the gains/losses to the various parties involved in this deal, and render an opinion as to the appropriateness of the $38 offer price received by old shareholders. When computing the gains/losses to various parties, make sure to account for the impact of the “equity kicker”and “strip financing.”

Overview There are many types of auctions, each with strengths and weaknesses at uncovering the real price or value of an item. Auctions are widely used in finance, e-commerce, and e-games. They are also widely used to generate revenue for not-for-profit organizations. The following video describes auctions as price discovery mechanisms: The Ideal Auction(https://www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=4kWuxfVbIaU) Use the video on auctions and at least three academic or high-quality business publications (see acceptable types below) to compare and contrast English auctions and Dutch auctions, and sealed-bid first-price auctions and Vickery auctions. CREATIVE BRIEF Assignment Client: Date: Assignment: Client Signed By: Briefed By (your names here): Due: PROJECT DESCRIPTION /1 This project should showcase the new slogan of Pepsi – Dare for More. It must have a strong impact to its viewers through the use of visual elements and a catchy storyline that would leave a sort of an emotional aftertaste to the viewers. In line with the current day issues, it must include the use of actresses as the protagonists, while also showing Pepsi in strategic focal points. WHAT ARE THE COMMUNCIATIONS OBJECTIVES? (Behaviour you’re trying to change) at least 2 /4 This video should show difference from the norm as envisioned in Pepsi’s slogan. This effect could be measured by the reactions of the people about the advertisement itself relative to the advertisements of our competitors. Based on the reactions of the audience to this difference, the brand could change its packaging to entice more customers. Additionally, this is relevant because of the strength of the competitors in establishing a strong brand identity. Lastly, this experiment would be done for this quarter. Another objective of the video is to show its concern for the current issues in society. The perceptions of the people towards this corporate social concern (i.e., current issues in feminism) could be measured through surveys (Bunting, 2004). By doing this, the company could also leverage helping others while also increasing its brand recognition relative to others. The observation for the results of this experiment would be done within a month. WHO IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE? /4 The target audience would be the youth who are residing in the urban areas. In terms of geographic segmentation, the advertisement would target those in the cities that has access to both the advertisement as well as the product itself. This would optimize the effectivity of the advertisement in communicating its message. As for demographic segmentation, it would focus on the youth. The primary reason for this is because people of old ae would have many dietary restrictions, and this allows soda. Thus, in order to increase the effectivity of the commercial, we would focus more on the said population. In terms of behavioral segmentation, it would be best to direct the advertisements towards both who already knows Pepsi as well as those who don’t. However, focusing on those who don’t would also be effective as it would help increase its consumer base (Trott, 2016). In terms of psychographic segmentation, focusing on the youth would be advantageous because of the trend these days to “think differently”. In turn, through the consumption of the product, this message would be emphasized. WHAT IS THE CONSUMER INSIGHT? /2 “I think that these days, doing things ‘differently’ also refers to the company’s focus towards giving back to the society. This is what a strong brand means. A brand that resonates with the issues happening around them”. WHAT IS THE BENEFIT WE ARE TRYING TO COMMUNICATE? /2 The benefit that we are trying to communicate is the chance to be “different” and the idea to achieve more WHAT CAN WE OFFER AS SUPPORT FOR THIS? /1 In order to realize this project, Pepsi would offer all of the support that it could provide as long as it is within the scope of the conditions and agreements provided thereof. This includes financial, logistics, and informational support among others. WHAT IS THE BRAND’S CREATIVE STRATEGY/CAMPAIGN THEME? Campaign Theme /1 The main campaign theme would revolve around Pepsi’s current slogan “Dare for More” *Appeal Technique(s) /2 In order to increase the appeal of the advertisement, we would include general issues these days and incorporate it to the overall theme of the advertisement. *Creative Tactic(s) /2 We would also include throngs of people singing in the background in unison. The song must be one that would elicit a strong emotional appeal. WHAT’S REQUIRED / MANDATORIES/ EXECUTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS? /2 This video must put into focus Pepsi’s slogan, have a relevance to current day issues, and have a strong emotional appeal to all the viewers. 1. Why do you think Alexie in Absolutely True Diary and Baldwin in “Sonny’s Blues” decided to tell their stories partly through artforms other than words? We see many of Junior’s drawings, and in several styles, and Baldwin uses contrasting musical styles as a key motif in “Sonny’s Blues.” Write one or two paragraphs on each work (do not compare and contrast.) For background on Alexie, read the interview with illustrator Ellen Forney at the back of ‘Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.” Why does the book use contrasting styles and how does it tie in with writing styles/moods from chapter to chapter?
For Baldwin, listen to and learn about the radical change from traditional jazz (like Louis Armstrong), to modern Bebop (‘Bird’/Charlie Parker). Do some web research before you write. Why did many middle-class, religious, and older blacks attack and dislike Bebop? Who in ‘Sonny’s Blues’ is aligned with each? Why do you think Baldwin uses contrasting jazz styles and gospel music to tell this particular story about an African American artist and his family?   2. Select one key character in Go Tell It on the Mountain who is not given a separate chapter (ie, not John, Gabriel, Florence, Elizabeth). How is that character treated as both believable, complex, and human, yet also at the same time as a symbolic, even Biblical figure? What part does he or she play in the intertwined stories of racist violence, prayers, visions, sin, and redemption?

The next step in the process of acquiring information is to move past what we can think of onto what we can see. That is, we have the way things are done and how to do them but we have not yet touched the work. In this case, we begin by reviewing some information regarding a trend towards bipedalism based on an arbitrary scale. That is, we use diagnostic features we can see and judge for ourselves. Although some may believe arbitrary assessments to be vague or assumptive, this step is sometimes used by those who know about the subject. That is we have spent many weeks getting to the point where you are trained observers. That is what you see matters and you will now “show what you can do with what you know.” This quick step is used to give immediate feedback to guide the path of inquiry. For example, an arbitrary scale can give values which can be interpreted as useful or not. The values can also be added to a graph which may show connections, divergence, and trends. Although the arbitrary assessments may be cursory they can be used to help make predictions. The predictions can aid in a direction of inquiry such as future experimental design to pursue a lead or quickly and simply rule out an assumption. An assumption in science can be either a premise for an idea based on experience, or a prediction based on prior data. That is, the premise from an informed previous statement can lead to inquiry. Informed statements come from experience or existing data. Therefore, an assumption in science is very different from how assumptions are used in daily activities by many non-scientists. Here we may assume that the diagnostics features listed in the drawing plantigrade, digitigrade, unguligrade highlight things of interest in relation to patterns of locomotion, in this case distinctions of speed and power compared to bipedalism. Grade scale x/30 x 20 = score 12.1. Bipedalis.Start with an ABC about each foot grade. Now that we have gone past the basics and the surprise that other animals have very similar skeletal structures it is time to review the basics of locomotion. Later, other forms of locomotion will be investigated in depth, but, for now it is wise to stay with what is familiar and the basic three. On the drawing for anthbiolab.mckendricksj.footgrades.plantigrade.digitigrade.unguligrade above, observe the normal standing postures and note the following for each species A, B,and C: (3 points) On the drawing above note the angle of the hip to the femur by the scribed line(s) down to the caudal line (a line towards the tail) of the hip in connection to the femoral line (of the femur). Estimate the angles of hip to femur by selecting the answer(s) which fits (delete the wrong answers) for each species: Species A what is angle 1 = Near to 180 deg Near to 115 deg. Near to 95 deg. Species B what is angle 1 = Near to 180 deg Near to 115 deg. Near to 95 deg. Species C what is angle 1 = Near to 180 deg Near to 115 deg. Near to 95 deg. (1 point) Note the location of the calcaneus relative to the point of contact at ground level and length relative to the tibia by selecting the answer(s) which fits (delete the wrong answers) for each species: Species A the location of item 2, the calcaneus to the ground is- On the ground and shortest compared to tibia Off the ground and longer compared to tibia Very high off the ground and longest compared to tibia Species B the location of item 2, the calcaneus to the ground is- On the ground and shortest compared to tibia Off the ground and longer compared to tibia Very high off the ground and longest compared to tibia Species C the location of item 2, the calcaneus to the ground is- On the ground and shortest compared to tibia Off the ground and longer compared to tibia Very high off the ground and longest compared to tibia (1 point) Note the relative length of the metatarsals compared to the other species by selecting the answer(s) which fits (delete the wrong answers) for each species; Species A Short Short to medium Very long Species B Short Short to medium Very long Species C Short Short to medium Very long (1 point) Note the position of the pedal phalanges in relation to the metatarsals especially note hooves as on the ground but not the pahalages by selecting the one answer which fits (delete the wrong answers) for each species: Species A On-ground- inline On-ground-not-inline Off-ground-not- inline Species B On-ground- inline On-ground-not-inline Off-ground-not- inline Species C On-ground- inline On-ground-not-inline Off-ground-not- inline (1 point) Note the pedal phalanges in relation to the tiba phalanges by selecting the answer(s) which fits (delete the wrong answers) for each species: Species A On-ground- and 90 deg. On-ground- and greater than 90 deg. Off-ground- and greater than 90 deg. Species B On-ground- and 90 deg. On-ground- and greater than 90 deg. Off-ground- and greater than 90 deg. Species C On-ground- and 90 deg. On-ground- and greater than 90 deg. Off-ground- and greater than 90 deg. (1 point) If a species has an angle of femur to hip bone is closer to 90 deg., then they are better at jumping without a run. Select the species one or more which has that by selecting the answer(s) which fits (delete the wrong answers) best for power related to speed and jumping: A: human B: Dog C: Deer (1 point) If a species has a calcaneus not in contact with the ground and has a longer length relative to the tibia, then they are able to have a burst of speed and jump easily exceeding what humans can do. Select the species, one or more, which has that characteristic by selecting the answer(s) which fits (delete the wrong answers) best for power related to speed and jumping: A: human B: Dog C: Deer (1 point) If a species has a relatively longer calcaneus length when compared to the other species then they are better at jumping without a run. Select the species one or more which has that by selecting the answer(s) which fits (delete the wrong answers) best for power related to speed and jumping: A: human B: Dog C: Deer (1 point) If a species has pedal phalanges in relation to the metatarsals which are not in line and have less contact overlength to the ground then they are able to have a burst of speed and jump easily exceeding what humans can do. Select the species, one or more ,which has that characteristic by selecting the one answer which fits (delete the wrong answers) best for power related to speed and jumping: A: human B: Dog C: Deer 10. (1 point) If a species has the tibia in relation to the pedal phalanges which are in excess of 90 degrees then they are able to have a burst of speed and jump easily exceeding what humans can do. Select the species one or more which have that by selecting the one answer which fits (delete the wrong answers) best for power related to speed and jumping: A: human B: Dog C: Deer 11. (10 points) From questions 1 thru 5 fill in the table to evaluate which species ranks the lowest for power for speed and jumping. Total each time A species scored a 1. 12. (2 points) Questions 1 thru 5 and 11 indicate that Species A is unique. What are they limited by, what can’t they do? 13. (2 points) Questions 6 thru 10 indicate that species B and C have less limitation and can do what? 14. (6 points) Why is this interesting to learn that humans even when compared to dogs and deer, to say nothing about them to top predators, have far less abilities in relation to their bipedalism? Project Management Individual Project Management Plan Team Project – Individual Project Management Plan Please read the Team project “Project Charter Uber Tour” doc in the attachment first, Then write the individual project management plan—- focus on the Project Risk Management only 1. Introduction 2. Goals 3. Objectives 4. Roles and Responsibilities 5. Deliverables 6. For each planning process associated with the knowledge area covered by your plan (as described in class and PMBOK), describe how the process will be handled for the project. You should also list and describe the inputs, tools and techniques and outputs of the process. In PMBOK:[planning process] -Plan Risk Management -Identify Risks -Perform Qualitative Risk Analysis -Perform Quantitative Risk Analysis – Plan Risk Responses -Implement Risk Responses -Monitoring and Controlling Process Group -Monitor Risks Your plan should be written in a narrative format, providing ample description within each section. It is not sufficient to simply provide a series of bulleted lists of materials! There is no length constraint, but plans do not have to be long! You have to keep in mind also that your plan is not intended to summarize the results of analysis and responses. It is supposed to describe how the communications management processes would be executed and who would do that work. Think of your plan as providing instructions to the project team as to how to do the necessary work in this area. Do your own work and make sure you answer all the questions. It will submit on the Turnitin. Submission will be sent to Turnitin to be electronically reviewed for plagiarism.
