In your opinion, what are the motivations to apply Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the field of healthcare?
For the past decades, Artificial Intelligence (AI) is believed to change the whole field of healthcare. People believed that the use of these systems could help improve the system through different means, from augmenting the practitioner’s ability to detect diseases to increasing workflow efficiency within the workplace. These days, the need for developing an AI system that would fulfill these promises has become more apparent.
Accordingly, I believe that some of the reasons why the need for AI has become more apparent are the increasing (2) number of diseases, (2) complexity of the healthcare system, and (3) desire for better healthcare experience.
One of the main reasons for the increasing need for an AI system is the increasing number and variety of new diseases. Despite the significant leaps in healthcare system compared to the previous decades, a recent study conducted by the World Health Organization revealed that the variety and quantity of cases of chronic diseases has exponentially increased in the past decades (Raghupathi & Raghupathi, 2018). Accordingly, the use of an integrated AI (i.e., AI and EHR integration) could help identify trends in real time as well as detect illnesses of patients early on.

Another reason for the increasing need of AI in the current healthcare system is the increasing complexity of the system itself. As compared to previous decades, the legislations, methods, and tools utilized in the provision of care has expanded. One example of which is the ‘boom’ of a variety of insurance policies that offers different premiums depending on the patient’s history and disease, among others. Thus, by using AI the implementation of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) would even become more efficient.
Lastly, using AI to augment administrative decisions in the field of healthcare could further improve its efficiency. For example, some technologies have noted that AI can be used to help in the ‘triaging’ process.

Describe 3 examples of data types that have been analyzed by AI systems< While there are a lot of data types that are analyzed by AIs in the field of healthcare, three of these data are (1) patient history, (2) past evidences, and (3) possible treatments. The first type is the patient’s history. As discussed in the video by IBMIndiaSS (2014), it could be seen that AIs can be used to analyze the patient’s history and relating it with the current symptoms being experienced by the patient (i.e., history of smoking, family history). The second type of data that are being analyzed by AI systems are past evidences. Specifically, these evidences are in the forms of studies that will be synthesized in order to help the physician to have an idea of what the patient’s problem could be. Lastly, after considering the symptoms, patient’s history, and past evidences, the AI can then suggest possible tests or treatments, but analyzing all the data and relating it to suggested treatments. Discuss two examples of mechanisms/device that enable AI systems to generate clinical meaningful results Two examples of mechanism/devices that enable AI systems to generate clinical meaningful results are (1) wearable fitness devices and (2) digital invoices. On the one hand, wearable fitness devices help AI to continuously monitor the individual’s vital signs and generate data, decisions, and treatments based on preprogram algorithms. On the other hand, digital invoices allow the AI as well as the practitioners to “highlight mistakes in treatments, workflow inefficiencies, and helps area healthcare systems avoid unnecessary patient hospitalizations” (NovatioSolutions.com, n.d.) Describe two disease types that the AI communities are currently tackling. Two of the main disease types that AI communities are currently tackling are (1) diabetes and (2) cardiac diseases. On the one hand, AI communities are trying to mitigate cardiovascular related diseases by synthesizing patient’s symptoms, history, as well as cardiac imaging to detect possible illnesses early on (Jiang, et al., 2017). On the other hand, AI communities have also tried to manage diabetes and detect the risks of having the disease by imaging early onset symptoms such as hemorrhaging. Identify several future challenges in the implementation of AI in healthcare. Some of the future challenges in the implementation of AI in healthcare includes (1) individual resistance to change, (2) increase costs for providers, (3) technical capacity of providers, and (4) disruption in the workflow process. References IBMIndiaSS (Director). (2014). IBM Watson Demo Oncology Diagnosis and Treatment 8 min [Motion Picture]. Jiang, F., Jiang, Y., Zhi, H., Dong, Y., Li, H., Ma, S., & Wang, Y. (2017). Essay #4: Comedy, the first person, & empathy   English 110 Background: In this unit, we’ll watch two comedy specials that function as monologues and soliloquys: Hannah Gadsby’s “Nanette” and Hasan Minhaj’s “Homecoming King.” Both of these pieces are like first-person essays, or like memoir, combined with an artistic, deliberate visual performance. These comics use their comedy as a way to discuss difficult issues, like homophobia, sexual assault, racism, and class. We’ll also read critical essays on first-person writing itself, and consider how these theories can help us understand these comics’ messages. Every choice the comic makes—what words they choose, their punchlines and repetition, their eye contact, their movement, their gestures—are all a part of their message. The way they tell their story is as important as the story itself. Their first-person narrative and performance help us, the audience, feel empathy for the speaker in different ways, and help us accept difficult issues that we might not accept otherwise. Learning Goals: Your goal for this essay is to expand your knowledge of close reading of literary elements (essay #1), analysis of broader themes and structures (essay #2), integrating a real-world lens (essay #3), and combine all of these skills into one coherent, analytical argument.   The task: Choose one of the comedians from this unit, and then write a 1,500-word essay answering the following questions:
  1. What is the message of this monologue/soliloquy?
  2. How does their form of the monologue/soliloquy help the reader to feel empathy and accept this difficult idea?
How to do it: More detail You will be considering how the comedians in this unit use first-person narration to convey their message. Remember to analyze means to break down. You should treat your chosen monologue/soliloquy the way you would any of the pieces we’ve read this semester, and consider how the different tools the comic uses come together to create meaning.   For your thesis: This is another way of asking about the theme of the piece! But in this case, you’re specifically considering the relationship between how they tell their first-person story, empathy, and their message.   For your body paragraphs: Consider the tools the comics use/the elements of the comedy routine, both verbal and visual (specifically, metaphors and similes, structure, pacing, word choice, tone, posture, facial expressions, visual elements, gestures, etc.) and how each allows us to develop empathy and connect with the speaker in order to accept their idea. Audience: Consider your reader as someone not in our class. They will need context and explanation for who your comic is, what their special is about, and any key terms you’re using. Outside Source Requirement: For this essay, please integrate at least one of the critical sources on first-person narratives we discuss in class/I provide for you to help support your argument about the comic’s message. Your source should be integrated in a meaningful way, rather than just thrown in as a single quote. (more on next page) Need help? Review my lecture videos, your homework and prewriting assignments, and make an appointment at the writing center, or with me! I’m happy to help. Requirements (what to do to pass) (A essays do these things very well and are highly polished)
  • 1,500 words minimum
  • Demonstrate your analysis and close reading skills throughout
  • Demonstrate knowledge of literary elements
  • Include a compelling introduction that includes a hook, introduces your chosen piece, and includes a thesis
  • Include evidence—each body paragraph should include at least one quote from either your chosen comic or a critical source
  • Meaningfully include at least one critical source
  • Includes a conclusion that answers the “and now what?” question
  • Be thoroughly proofread (especially for homonyms and lowercase i’s)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sentence boundaries
  • Demonstrate deliberate paragraphing choices (one main idea per paragraph)
  • Include a title
  • Use a 12-point, readable font
  • Be double-spaced
  • Include page numbers
  • Include an MLA Works Cited page
  • Be original work—As stated on the syllabus: You may not pay someone else to write your essay. You may not Google what others have said about the comic and use that to come up with ideas. All ideas must be your own. Our class time will help you generate your own ideas! You must write your paper yourself. Consulting sources that specifically discuss the comic, in physical print or online, will be considered cheating unless it is properly and judiciously documented.

You might choose a term that you find particularly interesting, something that you didn’t know before, something that’s a little unique…whatever you want. The only term you cannot choose for this exercise is “globalization.” Anything else is fair game. Once you’ve chosen your term or concept, I’d like you to create a meme that reflects the concept. Include your meme in your post. Then, briefly (in one paragraph) explain your meme. Why did you pick this term, what are you trying to convey in your meme. Be original and creative. You won’t be able to see your classmates posts until you post so duplicate concepts will not be penalized. Your meme and explanation paragraph must be your original work. Term: Free Trade

Please answer each question keeping them labeled so I know which is which. Thank you! Please use sources for each set of questions. 1. “Interviewing and Interrogating” Please respond to the following: • Determine the fundamental difference between interrogating and interviewing under the circumstance of criminal investigation. Provide one (1) example of a situation or scenario when each of these would be used. • Support or critique the argument that a police officer should use an Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) and / or taser before the utilization of deadly force when making arrests. Provide a rationale to support your response. 2. “Suicide and Elder Abuse” Please respond to the following: The Center for Disease Control (CDC) identified suicide as a common death investigation within the United States. In some instances, family members attempt to hide the fact that the person took their own life. Analyze the main reasons why persons would attempt to conceal such an event which could possibly lead them into receiving criminal charges themselves. Recommend at least one (1) action that the law enforcement could take in order to investigate such a suicide crime. The National Center on Elder Abuse indicates that seniors are the fastest-growing population in the United States. It is apparent that as this populace becomes more physically frail, they are seemingly a greater target for the unscrupulous to take advantage. Discuss the main reasons why abuse of seniors is recognized yet usually goes unreported. Next, suggest one (1) action that citizens or family members could take to reduce elder abuse. Provide a rationale to support your response. 3. “Sexual Assault Evidence and Forms of Abuse among Children” Please respond to the following: It is common knowledge that rape and sexual assault investigations provide evidence such as stained or torn clothing, scratches, bruises and cuts used to solve the crime. Determine at least three (3) other forms of evidence associated with a rape or sexual assault. Next, recommend at least one (1) action that the law enforcement could take in order to investigate such a crime. The textbook cites that the four (4) most common types of abuse among children are neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse. Select one (1) out of the four (4) types of abuse among children. Next, determine the key challenges that the investigator may confront while investigating the abuse you selected. Suggest one (1) strategy geared toward mitigating the challenges you determined. Provide a rationale to support your response.

It’s a concert report and here is the requirement: “The objective of this paper is to connect what you hear during the concert to the content of the course and your own personal/cultural experiences, and to also attempt to express in words your general reaction to the music. You may describe how the music “made you feel,” but always follow up that statement with why you believe the music made you feel that way. In a similar vein, stay away from subjective comments concerning whether you liked or disliked the music, and instead use the information we’ve discussed during the course to make informed statement about the music itself. You are also encouraged to take notes during the performances if possible (only with pen and paper, absolutely not with a laptop) and, more importantly, research the pieces being performed before you attend the concert. You can then ask yourself, among other questions, are the pieces being performed indicative of the time period in which they were composed? A piece composed in the 1700’s probably won’t have the same aural properties as a piece composed in 2018. Why is that? The most important thing to do during a concert is to ask the question: why? If the chorus of a song gets you really excited, or if the slow movement of a sonata “sounds” morose, try to identify what it is about the collection of sounds that works or doesn’t work using the information we’ve learned in class. Sometimes you may be able to identify the exact reasons a passage has certain aural properties, but sometimes you won’t, in which case you should either try to make an educated guess as to what the music is “doing,” or try to make an educated guess on why you perceive the piece a certain way.” Try to use some music vocabulary in this report, like “dynamic”, “Tempo”, “Major key or minor key”
