ENGLISH 1100 – COMPOSITION I
WRITING PROJECT 3: WRITING WITH RESEARCH – TOPIC GUIDELINES
Word count: 1,500 (about 6 pages) Grade Value: 25%
Sources to be used for Writing Project #3:
• Your own ideas and experiences from either your Writing Project 1 (Writing from Personal Experience) to illustrate your ideas.
Topic and purpose for Writing Project #3:
Topic: Looking back on the experiences you described about a community problem in Writing Project 1 (Writing from Personal Experience). In Writing Project #3, you will formulate a claim about the question and argue that claim based on personal experience and fact-based evidence.
Purpose: In Writing Project #3, your question—and the answer to that question—will reflect your stance (a “claim”) on the issue you’re addressing in your essay. You will formulate and argue the claim using source material that provides fact-based evidence, and you will illustrate your claim about the issue by using your own personal experience. What Writing Project #3 is not: WP#3 is not an informative essay or a “how-to” essay. You will not address the reader directly or use source material that offers “advice” to the reader. Your essay must argue a claim about an issue.
Process for Developing Writing Project #3:
Develop and organize your WP3 first version:
Using your outline as a template, develop your ideas to create a WP3 first version:
• Create an introduction: Refer to your experience you told a story about in Writing Project #1 then transition into the broader issue that this experience raised. Ask your “main” question about the community problem and provide a thesis that states your claim in answer to the question.
• Develop supporting paragraphs (from your supporting points in your outline): Introduce each supporting paragraph with a topic sentence about a specific aspect of your claim that you want to explore. After each topic sentence, present information (from your own experience and ideas and from source material, correctly cited) that expands on idea in the topic sentence. • Write a conclusion: Refer back to your experiences in Writing Project 1 and reflect on your own experience and what you learned from your research that can help your community.
• Format a works cited listing to include citations for the outside sources, formatted in MLA style.
• Follow guidelines for development of ideas and use and citation of source material. Wp3 first versions that do not meet the minimum word requirement (1,500 words) and do not correctly use and cite sources both in-text and in the Works Cited listing will have points deducted.
Write your final version of Writing Project 3 (100 points): Based on the comments of your peer review partner(s) and the instructor as well as your own ideas for revision, you will decide if you want to revise to create a WP3 final version. WP3 final versions that do not have correctly cited sources both in-text and in the Works Cited listing will not receive a passing grade; once a final version is submitted, you will not have an opportunity to revise.

Benefits of Authoritative Leadership
I once formed a study group with some of my classmates to solve a course project. In the beginning, we didn’t have a leader among us, and everything started to become more difficult. Everyone didn’t know what to do, and some people were absent from the discussion. So then, later, I recommended myself as a group leader and assigned different tasks to each group member, and as a result, we didn’t just finish the work in time but also attained a remarkable outcome. So, after this experience, I realized the importance of a good leader to the success of the mission. At the same time, I am also interested in the impact of different styles of leadership on team works. After searching and discussing, I found out that many people do not like, or even boycott, authoritative leaders, thinking that it would have a negative impact or outcome and can be more restrictive. But in my personal experience, authoritative leadership is no worse than any other style of leadership. Then I asked a question: whether authoritative leadership can bring benefits to work. For example, if the efficiency is improved or the quality of task completion is better. After searching a lot of information and combining my own experience, I think authoritative leadership can bring benefits to the end of any task given.
Autocratic or Authoritarian Leadership
Before anything else, let us first define what an autocratic or authoritarian style of leadership is. Autocracy literally means “rule by oneself,” from the word autos, meaning “self,” and kratia, meaning “rule” (Harper). And according to a book titled Leadership and Management in China: Philosophies, Theories, and Practices, this style of leadership refers to a leader’s behavior of asserting persuasive authority and control over subordinates and demanding unquestioned obedience from subordinates (Chen and Lee 173). Upon my reading and research on various scholarly articles and journals, I have found multiple examples and instances wherein this type of leadership proves a positive outcome.
Positive Outcomes
First, we can observe in hospital settings, mostly in trauma scenarios wherein an autocratic style may be suitable especially in time-urgent and high-stakes situations in which the physician may be the only member of the team who has the requisite skills and training to diagnose and select the appropriate treatment for the patient (Manthous and Hollingshead). This type of leadership efficiency in these specific instances is also supported by a conducted research, it was mainly done in the trauma resuscitation unit (TRU), a type of specialized emergency room where trauma patients are brought for initial treatment and stabilization at a Level I trauma center (TC) of a significant mid-Atlantic medical center in the United States (a TC is an organization that provides emergency care to patients who have experienced a significant traumatic event and require immediate intensive care). This study was performed to compare Empowering (democratic) and Directive (autocratic) types of leadership.

Instructions: Please read the instruction exactly , and the citation should be the college art history coverage.
In this week’s lesson, and in previous weeks, we have discussed works of art and the contexts in which they exist/are shown. How does seeing an object in its original context, and in a new (and perhaps unintended) context, change the way a work of art communicates? What, for example, is the difference between seeing a medieval altarpiece in the context of the church ( and perhaps a particular chapel) for which it was made versus seeing the same altarpiece at the Museum of Fine Arts behind glass? Or, seeing a Minimalist cube in a gallery for which it was made versus outdoors in an open-air courtyard at the Museum of Modern Art?
Along with the differences, are there any similarities in the two experiences (“original” versus new settings)? Please note that the point here is not to choose a “favorite” setting (original or new), but simply to reflect on the similarities and differences in the experience of the work of art when its setting has changed.
Finally, can you cite at least one example of a work of art discussed in this course in which the original setting has been changed? Discuss.

Infectious Diseases, Tuberculosis in India
From: Secretary of Health, India
To: Minister of Finance, India
Introduction:
400,000 Indians die each year from TB. It is the leading cause of death in the ages 15-45 and has the greatest affect on the poverty stricken regions. Several risk factors for TB are HIV, lack of knowledge, urban congestion and pollution, barriers in health care, and cultural differences. TB causes large economic losses, financial burdens to poor families, losses in education, and even familial rejection of infected women. To address TB we must promote DOT in the poorest sectors to improve knowledge and treatment, ensure efficient technology for diagnosis, and target HIV prevalent areas for proper treatment for co-infected patients. 2 pages / approx 550 words | APA | English (US) 🇺🇸 | Health, Medicine, & Nursing | Research Paper | Undergraduate |
