Please answer each question and keep them number so that I know they have been answered. Ethics and Trust in Critical Thinking Decisions 1. Imagine you’re thinking about buying a new car. Before making this important decision, you’ll want to gather as much information as possible to help make the right choice. Determine the level of trust that you would place in information provided by the following sources: a salesman at the car lot, the dealer’s Website, social media (i.e. Facebook), an associate from work, and a close friend. Discuss the key factors involved in assessing the amount of trust that you put into each source. 2. Imagine you’re able to persuade another person. You sincerely believe that your position is 100% right. Explain whether you would slant information in such a way as to make your point(s) seem more credible. Discuss the primary ethical dilemmas that this scenario could cause for both you and the person whom you are trying to persuade. The Value of Critical Thinking 3. First – Give your opinion on whether being an effective critical thinker makes decision making easier or more challenging. Talk about concrete decisions you had to or will have to make. Justify your response. 4. Second – Consider the following statement: “The major difference between a successful person and one that is not successful is that the successful person, over time, tends to make better decisions than the less successful person.” Discuss whether you believe this statement to be true. Explain the fundamental ways in which effectively applying critical thinking concepts has helped you to become more successful.

Identify and analyze product placement used by firms to advertise in at least 2 movies and or TV shows. For each of the movies/shows you select, identify any specific products or services being promoted. How is the product incorporated into the content: verbally, visually, or both? Is the ad effective?

Crabwalk was controversial upon its release and many German critics and readers saw the book as breaking German taboos about discussing the nation’s past. Why might some Germans have seen Crabwalk as a challenge to twenty-first century German national identity? Be sure to utilize all relevant sources in your response.

Final Research Project Due by 11:59 pm on May 12, 2020. Students must prepare a research project on an information-related topic of their choice.  Some ideas for a project include: social networking and privacy issues; digital divide and rural areas; texting and driving, self-driving cars, cybersecurity etc. Late submissions will not be accepted unless there is a University approved excuse. The final project must include:

1. The title of the topic you are writing about.
2. A brief description of the topic at the beginning of the write-up.
3. Citations with annotations for the sources of information. See the grading rubric for the number of citations and the source of the information.  The format for the citation is the APA style.
4. Sources should include one or more of the following:

• A book or book chapter
• One online dictionary entry with the definition of one of your key words or phrases
• Three articles from a scholarly journal
• One article from a newspaper
• Authoritative Web pages
• A statistical resource using the a statistical database
• An authoritative podcast or web video
• Governmental data sources (.gov)
• For other sources check with professor

5. The final paper must be at least 8 pages of content not more than 10. This is NOT INCLUDING a cover page and the citations page.
6. The final paper must also include 3 visuals in the form of charts, tables, graphs or other visual that shows data or information to support a point in your paper. The visuals must take no more than 1/3 of the page.  Larger visuals must be reduced in size to fit to 1/3 of the page.

We will discuss various aspects of this research project extensively in class, and most of the homework assignments will assist in researching or preparing this research project. Your next three assignments will be as follows:

• Assignment #1: choose your topic and write your thesis statement. The statement should be 1 – 2 paragraphs and should be specific enough so that you can research the topic present good information and have a persuasive argument supporting the thesis.
• Assignment #2: Outline your final paper. You will be given an example of an outline that will assist you in developing the main body of your final paper.
• Assignment #3: Select your sources. Your sources of information will help support your thesis and make the fact-finding mission easier as you develop your paper.

Please use sources for each set of questions. 1. “Interviewing and Interrogating” Please respond to the following: • Determine the fundamental difference between interrogating and interviewing under the circumstance of criminal investigation. Provide one (1) example of a situation or scenario when each of these would be used. • Support or critique the argument that a police officer should use an Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) and / or taser before the utilization of deadly force when making arrests. Provide a rationale to support your response. 2. “Suicide and Elder Abuse” Please respond to the following: The Center for Disease Control (CDC) identified suicide as a common death investigation within the United States. In some instances, family members attempt to hide the fact that the person took their own life. Analyze the main reasons why persons would attempt to conceal such an event which could possibly lead them into receiving criminal charges themselves. Recommend at least one (1) action that the law enforcement could take in order to investigate such a suicide crime. The National Center on Elder Abuse indicates that seniors are the fastest-growing population in the United States. It is apparent that as this populace becomes more physically frail, they are seemingly a greater target for the unscrupulous to take advantage. Discuss the main reasons why abuse of seniors is recognized yet usually goes unreported. Next, suggest one (1) action that citizens or family members could take to reduce elder abuse. Provide a rationale to support your response. 3. “Sexual Assault Evidence and Forms of Abuse among Children” Please respond to the following: It is common knowledge that rape and sexual assault investigations provide evidence such as stained or torn clothing, scratches, bruises and cuts used to solve the crime. Determine at least three (3) other forms of evidence associated with a rape or sexual assault. Next, recommend at least one (1) action that the law enforcement could take in order to investigate such a crime. The textbook cites that the four (4) most common types of abuse among children are neglect, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and sexual abuse. Select one (1) out of the four (4) types of abuse among children. Next, determine the key challenges that the investigator may confront while investigating the abuse you selected. Suggest one (1) strategy geared toward mitigating the challenges you determined. Provide a rationale to support your response.

Create a small budget for a hypothetical state program based on priority health concerns from Healthy People 2020. In addition, create a narrative (2-4 sentences) that identifies the most appropriate federal funding source for your proposed program. APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected. This assignment uses a rubric. Please review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with the expectations for successful completion. You are not required to submit this assignment to Turnitin.

Assignment Guidelines: Select one artist covered in the lecture and one of their artworks to critique. Title the essay in a way that provides anticipation for the content of the essay. In the introductory paragraph of your essay, introduce the artist and artwork providing background information for each. For example: What is the artist’s name? What is their nationality? Where do they live? What type of work do they make? What artwork are you going to cover? What is its title? What materials is it made out of? When was it made? How is the piece experienced? At the end of the introductory paragraph, provide your thesis. This is your critique of the artwork. There are many judgements you may have for the work of art you are writing about and it is up to you to develop those into your critique. If you are struggling to develop your critique, start with considering the effectiveness or impact of the artwork. Does the artwork change the way you think about something? Does it not? Does it make you think differently about some ideas, but not others? Does the work operate only on sensationalism or shock value? Is the work well-researched and nuanced providing many interpretations by many different people? In the following paragraphs, describe the artwork at length and provide your arguments that support and flesh out your critique of the artwork. In these paragraphs, you are answering WHY you critique the artwork in this way. In your concluding paragraph, relay your thesis (that is not just re-stating it) that summarizes your perceived impact of the work of art. Think about the artwork’s personal impact upon you, the cultural impact of the artwork, the historical impact, and/or the political impact of the artwork. 7. Embed an image of the work you discussed within your essay. Add an appropriate citation to your Works Cited page.
