CAUTI Teaching and Evaluation Strategies

Educators in the field of nursing face many difficulties when it comes to planning, implementing, and revising a lesson plan. This is due to the fact that nursing curricula are continually changing through time and that lessons should emphasize not only theoretical but also practical instructions. In line with this need, it is apparent why nurse-educators require both experience and a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Additionally, such curricula should effectively integrate teaching and evaluating the student’s performance to perform necessary changes that would further the student’s improvement. This also means that the instructor, herself, should be able to assess her own performance based on the perception of her individual students. In this paper, the author would discuss about (1) the different techniques that can be used in teaching Catheter-Associated Urinary Tract Infection (CAUTI) and (2) the evaluating strategy in a nurse educator’s lesson plan. This includes subject matters such as (1) formative assessment strategy, (2) summative assessment strategies, and (3) instructor satisfaction surveys. All in all, the author of this paper believes that by using these different kinds of strategies, a better understanding of nurse-education could be gleaned by both the students and the teacher.
Formative Assessment Strategy

Formative Assessment Strategies (FAS) are those evaluations that are focused on understanding the student’s ability to follow the classroom lessons as well as the possible interventions or changes that could be made in order to address the gaps that reduce active learning (Rosciano, 2015). While there are many ways on how to conduct some of the tests that can be beneficial in teaching CAUTI are mind mapping, projects, and pop quizzes. Generally, topics involving CAUTI (i.e., prevention, treatment, and evidence-based practices) could vary significantly between different approaches. This is because, despite the list of ‘State proposed’ guidelines, practitioners still differ on how they comply and apply such guidelines. Accordingly, mind-mapping would allow the students to be able to summarize these different rules by essence and not merely by words. In fact, several studies show that using mind mapping techniques could help in more excellent retention of information since concepts are being summarized graphically through the understanding of the student himself (Rosciano, 2015).

FAH 101/2019 Essay #2 Assume a Position! Critical Viewing of the Art Gallery of Ontario Carol Duncan and Allan Wallach’s “The Universal Survey Museum.” Michael Snow (Canadian), Walking Women (entrance, AGO) Format: 1100 words. double-spaced, 12-point font, standard margins. Due: Thursday November 21, 2019 at 5:00pm Sign and check all the boxes on the Academic Integrity form, sign & attach as a doc to your essay. Name your file in this format: i.e. Wang_045938_AGOEssay Upload on Quercus in DOC or DOCX format. Components of the Assignment: Reading 1: Carol Duncan and Allan Wallach, “The Universal Survey Museum,” Art History 3 no. 4 (1980): 448-469. (Quercus) Reading 2: Dana Arnold, chapter 3, “Presenting Art History,” in Art History: A Very Short Introduction. Visit to the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto Description of the Assignment: In your essay, you will 1) apply Duncan and Wallach’s arguments to the architecture and spatial arrangement of the Art Gallery of Ontario. 2) evaluate 2 specific installations (see list below) in the museum as evidence of the AGO’s responsiveness to racial/national/indigenous/feminist/non-Western critiques of the “universal museum” described in Duncan &Wallach’s essay. A successful essay will integrate the two parts of the assignment. For background on Canada’s history, with reference to its indigenous peoples, and efforts to address historical injustices, see: https://www(dot)cbc(dot)ca/news/entertainment/museums-review-indigenous-representation-1.5101817 About the AGO: Founded in 1900, the AGO is a municipal art gallery, funded with public and private funds. Until recently, its collections focused on European and North American art (a survey of “western” art). Ancient art, the arts of Asia, Africa, Latin American, and Australia were not part of its collections for decades. The AGO has been through several building phases, the last of which saw a new façade, additions to the entrance sequence, and a large addition to the back adding an upper floor by Frank Gehry (2008). An important part of the original building is visible inside in the Walker Court, where Frank Gehry also made a visible intervention. Essay Part 1: The Ritual of the AGO. In this part of the essay, evaluate the AGO as an example of a universal survey museum, as analyzed by D & W. Evaluate the kind of ritual the AGO creates for the viewer by means of the architecture and objects installed in its entrance sequence. For Part 1 Analysis of the following elements is required: a) Entrance space with Michael Snow sculpture b) Walker Court and c) Gehry Staircase Spaces (see map of Ground Floor for the spaces in pink). Essay Part 2: What is the AGO’s subject position? In this part of the essay evaluate the AGO’s participation in and redress of implicit ideological positions in specific installations in the museum (see list below) D & W describe the formation of the museum – which was implicitly white, male, and Western – and the enactment of a civilizing process through the history of art. In Part 2, consider whether the AGO is a universal survey museum and whether it has reconsidered the white/western/male narrative characteristic of that museum type’s history. Look for those exclusions, and new inclusions, with attention to how they are presented in 2 of these works of art or galleries: For part 2, analysis of 2 of the following 6 installations is required: 1. Magical and Talismanic Art in Ethiopia A small one-room temporary exhibition of “medieval art” from Ethiopia (listen to the 5-minute video of a discussion by curators) 2. Gallery 136 “Europe’s Dilemma” (modern art). Who is represented in this gallery? Inclusions and exclusions? 3. Gallery 115 Bronze Crucifix by Gian Lorenzo Bernini (1650s) and three photographs by Rebecca Belmore (contemporary), an artist of indigenous descent. 4. Gallery 126 “Canadian Art of the early 1900s”: Specifically Emily Carr, Church in Yuquot Village (1929) and Sonny Assu, Re-Invaders: Digital Intervention of an Emily Carr Painting (2014). 5. Gallery 234 (2nd floor): “Indigenous (Canadian) art II”: Specifically: Kent Monkman The Academy (2008) 6. Gallery 227 Esmaa Mohamoud, A Seat Above the Table (2018) These spaces are marked in green on the map Installations #3-#5 are newly acquired works by indigenous artists. The arts of the indigenous peoples of this land were collected by the Royal Ontario Museum for their “ethnographic” collections (alongside natural history specimens), rather than by the AGO, an “art museum”. The AGO’s collections were primarily European and North American painting until relatively recently, when new geographical regions and the arts of the indigenous peoples of Canada began to be actively collected. For context about the indigenous peoples of Canada and the Truth and Reconciliation Committee’s 2015 articles that inform the museum’s installations see: https://www(dot)thecanadianencyclopedia(dot)ca/en/article/aboriginal-people https://www(dot)cbc(dot)ca/news/entertainment/museums-review-indigenous-representation-1.5101817 https://en(dot)wikipedia(dot)org/wiki/Truth_and_Reconciliation_Commission_of_Canada How to proceed: READ the Duncan & Wallace essay carefully, taking notes and summarizing its main arguments for yourself. You might write up a page or two of principal points just about the article before turning to the AGO part of the project. READ Chapter 3 of Dana Arnold’s Art History: Very Short Introduction, which concentrates on the institutions of art history, including museums. Because she discusses the history of museums and some contemporary examples, it will help you formulate questions about the AGO. Jot down the questions that you would want to answer at the AGO. Arnold’s chapter makes one aware of the significance of when a museum was founded; what its goals might have been at the time; how its collections come into being. This isn’t a research project — you are not expected to answer these questions about the AGO. And you are not allowed to use any research materials -– base your essay entirely on the museum itself. STUDY THE PLAN (see PDF in Quercus Module) Before visiting the museum itself in person study the plan of the museum that is also online: https://ago(dot)ca/visit/gallery-map. Analyze it. How much space is given to European art, Canadian art, First Nations art, African art, Latin American art, Asian art. How does the AGO comply with the museum types discussed by Duncan and Wallach?

You are to create a thoughtful and reflective essay that includes a minimum of four paragraphs (a paragraph must contain a minimum of three sentences, even though APA states two sentences) that addresses the expectations as listed below. This reflective essay may be written in first person because this is your personal reflection. The reflection must be based on the signature assignment, which was two Problem Based Learning (PBL) clinical patient cases. This assignment is graded on how well you address the expectations of the reflection, please make sure you address each of the expectations as listed below! Expectations of reflection: 1. Introductory paragraph that describes: -the signature assignment of the Problem Based Learning clinical case study. -How does what you learned through completing this signature assignment connect to the learning outcomes in this course? (you must write about how they connect to at least 2 of the 3 course CLOs) CLOS Assess the various techniques of periodontal therapy. Analyze a problem based case to meet the comprehensive needs of a patient. Justify the need for surgical periodontal treatment referrals. Completing these two pbls helped me understand the topics of implants and orthodontics. We were given two patients and from the case study our prpofessor gave us a particular topic that we had to address and become professional in. – Describe the gains over the term you have made in achieving the CLOs. The gains I have made is that I am better to understand the involvement of perio and how it affects orthodontics and implants. With orthodontics I learned that it cannot be placed if it the patient has osseous crater, furcation’s, and three-wall defects. With implants I learned that there are so many times and each one is used for specific reasons. 2.A paragraph (or more) that includes: What challenges did you encounter in completing this assignment? -The challenges I encountered was findings new research in the recent 2 year about my topic. Most of the researches were from years ago. How did you solve these challenges? -I solved these challenges by getting extra help from our school librarian. What were the successes you had in completing this assignment? The success was that I was easly about to find information nabout my topic and it was pretty easy to go into detail about them. 3. A paragraph (or more) that discusses your learning throughout this term: Describe the learning process throughout the course, what it felt like as you progressed and mastered certain skills (developing key facts, hypothesis, learning needs and applying these to effective poster board presentations). Through out this term it was difficult retaning all the information of periodontology. There is a lot of key facts that need to be memories in order to figure out what status the patient is. In order to be able to see if a patient is periodontally involved you need to go and check many things. What skills have you obtained from the PBL process and how will you apply those skills to private practice? -The skill I have obtained is that now I can easily research a topic and learn about it in detail. It can help me in private practice because I know now what periodontally involved patients need or how to diagnose if they are periodontally involved. Discuss the skills you are still developing related to the PBL process and your plans to continue your learning to ensure you remain knowledgeable and competent in the future. -These skills that I have obtained will help me when I graduate and become a RDH. I can take this to private practice where I will need to explain all these information to the dentist when with a patient. 4.A paragraph (or more) that discusses a connection between what you studied in this course and what you learned in previous courses. -What I have learned in this course plays the most important role in my clinic class. I. need to know these information when seeing a patient in order to successful create a correct dental hygiene care plan. Specifically describe how what you learned in other classes enhance what you learned in this class. -Last term in the periodontology class I was in it helped me learn the basis information for this applied periodontology. Reflect on what you thought about the CLO’s at the beginning of the class and how you think about them now. Please look at the clos I provided above and make something up. What has changed in your assumptions and understanding? Please write something
