Choose an ethics topic and watch a comedy sketch going over the issue that shares a perspective that you had not known before or explores some perspective you do not agree with. (It may be easier to start by watching comedy sketches you wouldn’t normally and then choose a dilemma they talk about to write on.) How does medium of comedy change what information is exchanged? What are the pros of this? The cons? What did you learn about this perspective or topic?

Ethical Issues in Comedy Sketches
Comedy sketches are perhaps one of the most interesting pieces of artforms these days. These kinds of the medium allow for the representation of several deeply rooted issues in a comedic way that it increases people’s awareness without being over aggressive in delivering the message. Accordingly, one of the most entertaining and interesting comedy sketches that I was able to watch was Key and Peele’s Gay Wedding Advice. In this four-and-a-half-minute sketch, the actors presented a skit wherein the Delroy family was trying to get pieces of advice about how to act and behave for their loved one’s “Gay wedding”. Accordingly, this article would focus on some of the most important things that I have learned from this skit, as well as how it helped me shape my perception of an ethical issue (e.g., prejudice against same-sex marriages) that I was not aware of until now.

Same-sex Marriages

The reason why I found Key & Peele’s sketch entertaining was because it helped me shape my perceptions about the rites during same-sex marriages in a fun and entertaining way. I have not been able to attend any weddings between two couples of the same sex, not because of my personal preferences, but because of the fact that we came from a conservative neighborhood. I have a lot of close friends and acquaintances who are members of the LGBTQ+ community, but most of them do not prefer to marry due to the idea that marriage is sacred and that it must only be done by two people of the opposite gender.

Discussion – Week 1 (preferred related to Psychiatric care since I work as a Psych Nurse) COLLAPSE Defining Quality As health care consumers, we all expect quality care and positive outcomes. It is important as professionals that we meet these demands of health care consumers. Consider the work of the major theorists you examined in this week’s Resources, and think about how these theories apply to your own experience as a health care customer and/or practitioner. By Day 3 Post your definition of quality, and apply it to the work of one major quality theorist (e.g., Donabedian, Juran, Deming, Triple Aim (IHI) – Berwick). Identify a practice problem that you have had some experience with as a customer or as a practitioner, and explain how eliminating wasteful practices could have improved the experience. Include how your definition of quality applies to that experience. Support your response with references from the professional nursing literature. Your posts need to be written at the capstone level (see checklist). Notes for Initial Post: A 3-paragraph (at least 350 words) response. Be sure to use evidence from the readings and include in-text citations. Utilize essay-level writing practice and skills, including the use of transitional material and organizational frames. Avoid quotes; paraphrase to incorporate evidence into your own writing. A reference list is required. Use the most current evidence (usually ≤ 5 years old). (Refer to AWE Checklist, Capstone) By Day 7 Read two or more of your colleagues’ postings from the Discussion question. Respond with a comment that asks for clarification, provides support for, or contributes additional information to two or more of your colleagues’ postings. Post a Discussion entry on three different days of the week. See the Discussion Rubric found in the Course Information area. The criminal trial process has many components. In this assignment, you explore real-life examples of the criminal trial process in two different types of trials. Search the Internet for trials using parameters such as but not limited to “watch criminal trials online,” or visit the Wild About Trial website. https://wildabouttrial(dot)com/ Compare TWO (2) trials. If possible, compare a murder trial with one involving another major felony. Include the parties represented in each trial (i.e., plaintiff and defendant). Write 350- to 700-word comparison in which you: Summarize what each trial was about. Identify the type of court the trials were held in (refer to Ch. 1 for types of courts in the United States). Describe as many of the steps of each trial as you can (refer to Ch. 13 for the steps/process). Explain the similarities and differences between the two trials you selected. Identify as many of the actors of each trial as you can who played a role in the steps of the trial process. What were their roles? Cite a minimum of 2 sources (one source for each trial). Assignment 1: Entering the Conversation (15%) Mary Louise Pratt’s “Arts of the Contact Zone” Your Task: Throughout your academic and professional career you will be asked to summarize and respond to materials you engage with in order to “join the conversation.” Your first assignment of the semester asks you to look at Mary Louise Pratt’s “Arts of the Contact Zone” and join the conversation. For this essay, you should: Provide a brief summary of Pratt’s argument. Join the conversation by either agreeing or disagreeing with her argument. Support your position by drawing on personal experiences or observations. Audience: Your audience for this assignment will be your instructor and your classmates, but you should pretend as though no one reading your essay has ever read Pratt’s article. Thus, you should thoroughly represent the text’s main ideas and key points and provide accurate textual evidence throughout. Requirements: To achieve your purpose with your audience, use the following strategies in your essay: Introduce the text and the author at the beginning.. You must select an argument (claim) that Pratt makes, an argument that touches on an issue that you have ideas of your own to advance. You must present this aspect of Pratt’s argument only, and then you must demonstrate to the reader your own argument on the issue(s) it raises. In your rough draft, you need to briefly summarize Pratt’s point via a quotation, and then advance your own argument on the issue that has been raised. It is always good to signal your reader and use reporting verbs such as “Pratt argues/claims/states,” “According to Pratt,” and “for Pratt, the solution appears to be,” etc. Anytime you are summarizing, paraphrasing, or quoting from the article you should note it at the end of the sentence via an in-text citation, as following: (Pratt 537). Formatting guidelines: at least 900 words (all drafts must be at least 900 words in order to get credit – this is equivalent to at least three full pages. Drafts exceeding four pages will lose points for lack of concision), Times New Roman, 12 font, standard margins, double spaced, using MLA format Top right corner of all pages: Your last name and page number Top left corner (1st page only): Your name, professor’s name, Class title, date submitted, who helped you with the essay, if anyone (LRC tutors, name of a Penn State faculty member) Title (1st page only): Double space again and center the title. Do not underline, italicize, or place your title in quotation marks; write the title in Title Case (standard capitalization), not in all capital letters (Come up with a unique title that reflects your particular essay). Works cited page: The last page of your essay should be a works cited page, which lists the reference for Pratt’s essay. Copy and paste the following reference into your works cited page: Pratt, Mary Louise. “Arts of the contact zone.” Ways of Reading: An Anthology for Writers, edited by David Bartholomae and Anthony Petrosky, Bedford/St. Martin’s, 2002, pp. 604-623.

It is a well-known fact that people need to exercise to prevent being afflicted with diseases, especially those that are caused by unhealthy lifestyle. However, keeping an exercise routine for a college student is easily said than done. On the one hand, this is due to the number of academic requirements that we have to do every day. On the other hand, this is also due to the social life and other extra-curricular activities that consume most of our idle time. In other words, while exercising is noted in the calendars of most college students, this usually gets relegated when there is any spare time after everything else. However, what I realized lately was that exercising need not be done and scheduled as a whole day activity per week. Instead, I saw some videos saying that by doing small but continuous physical efforts every day (e.g., walking to school instead of riding the bus) one can experience the benefits of a one-time-per-week routine that others are doing. About this, I also realized that this kind of method could also be done in other aspects of life such as dieting by changing parts of what you eat little by little and not in one fell sweep. In fact, for four weeks now I make sure to walk going to school and other places and reduce the number of calories that I eat by changing portions of my meals to fruits. While the results might not be that good as having a strenuous workout routine, I believe that this is doing me well given that I have a very tight schedule. All in all, I think that by doing things little by little, I could then convince myself to increase the strenuousness of my activities little by little.
