These days one of the enormous problems in the world (mainly First-world countries and urban areas) is obesity. This illness is said to be one of the reasons as to why millions of people die every day. However what is surprising is that in spite of all the studies pointing the dangers of unhealthy eating, this phenomenon is (1) very much complicated to be stopped and (2) mainly afflicts those who are in the lower class of the society. Following from the readings provided, the author believes that the main reason why obesity is almost impossible to be stopped is because its causes are not only psychological and physiological. Instead, it is embedded within the socio-political and economic system itself (Rozin).
In one of Margaret Mead’s articles, entitled Why do we Overeat, she pointed out that obesity’s problem could be traced based on how our food eating habits changed due to changes in our external environment. Particularly speaking, she noted that before, food wasn’t so accessible that we tend to eat much. However, as it becomes too available these days, food’s function has shifted from being a staple of our existence towards an object of reward or punishment.

Respond to the following prompts in the Common Core discussion by Sunday.
Annotate the common core math standards that pertain to the grade you teach ( 6-8) or your case study student.
Which standards are difficult for your student(s)? How would you tackle these problematic standards?
Do you feel there are too many standards? Not enough? What can we do about it? Which ones would you cut out or add and why?
Is it better for students to be exposed to all the standards, even if it means sacrificing mastery? Which is better, breadth or depth? Why?
Note. The above questions are to guide you if you need prompts to think about, they are not mandatory. If you have other ideas to discuss that relate to your grade level mathematics standards, forge ahead. 1 page / approx 275 words | APA | Education | English (US) 🇺🇸 | Essay | Undergraduate |

For example, we have reviewed a bit about the changes in the skeletons of humans and other species. In those things we have noted skeletons have changed in a sequence overtime in that;● Human types have special adaptations which allow and require a two legged walk, aka facultative bipedalism.● There are isolation forces, geographic isolation, which can produce changes in animal types based on the ecosystem. For example,Foster’s Rule.● That variation of species is measurable as noted by Darwin’s Finches. Here in this section, there is a short lesson which gets the student acquainted with the process of biological classification. This is a small and simple lesson to give the idea of distinct traits, and mosaic species. This process can start with some basic assumptions, scientific ones, that things potentially get more complex as they change. It is important to note that a species can become simpler to survive but it also noted that some things become more complex. That being said we will start with the assumption that; things potentially get more complex as they change. Simpler is then older and more complex is newer.
Note in following species, Andersenii aquaticus, is about first, the identification of the simply described simplest form of the organism, noted by the membranes (borders) and nothing else distinctive (Table1, Key concept 1.)
This lesson assesses Mendel’s first law of: segregation. That is that offspring inherit their traits from parents. Therefore, related species had to get their traits from ones that existed before.
It assesses evolutionary theory in showing that organisms tend towards complexity but at time entropy happens and things leave the family line.
It shows the theory of phylogenetics ( gene types) and shows the relation in arbitrary time on the cladogram. 1 page / approx 275 words | Biological & Biomedical Sciences | English (US) 🇺🇸 | Essay | Other | Undergraduate |

Aniconism and Iconoclasm: 400-word essay
Due: Friday October 23 @11:00am
Up until now we have encountered three moments in which the use of images has been debated within the monotheistic religions. Judaism was profoundly aniconic, without images of its God, and banned images entirely, as did Islam. Christianity ultimately embraced images of its God (and other holy figures, the Virgin and Saints above all), but not without extensive debate, with a strong opposition party supporting a ban on images in the 8th century. In the 16th century, the Lutheran and Calvinist Reformation reopened that debate. Calvinists removed all images from their churches, while Lutherans settled on a lesser role of images. The Roman church, henceforth Catholicism, however completely embraced the use of images. This assignment asks you to look at one side of the debates (the position taken AGAINST images), primarily in Christianity.
Iconoclasm is the destruction of images. Therefore, iconoclasm was the enactment of a policy against images, many, many of which populated the altars and walls of Christian churches since the time the Western Church officially embraced images. Iconoclasm, or the destruction of images, is an action that often followed the debates over the question: should there be images of the Christian God and Saints, or should there be no images?
The primary sources that you are reading for this assignment discuss their aniconic policies, not the iconoclasm that arose from them.
To Do List:
Read: (Please Please you must read before writing/ only use the sources I gave u )
The Torah (Old Testament): selected passages of God’s Commandments to the Israelites (this was assigned reading in Week 4)
Iconoclasm debates of the 8th-9th centuries CE in the Christian Church: excerpt from the Caroline Books
Debates of the 16th century that divided the Roman Church into Reformed and Catholic confessions: excerpt from Andreas Karlstadt, “On the Removal of Images” (1521) (pp. 21-25). Karlstadt was a Reform theologian of the early 16th century who advocated the extreme position of disallowing images in the churches.
Write: 400 words
In your essay analyze the different reasons the writers of the three texts give to reject images of the Jewish God (in the case of the Torah, or Old Testament) and the Christian God( in the case of the Caroline Books and in the treatise of Karlstadt); further, discuss the overlap and distinctions between the concepts of damnatio memoriae and iconoclasm.

Instructions: Watch at least three you tube videos of Ohad Naharin, Crystal Pite, and William Forsythe (a contemporary ballet choreographer) or Bill T jones.
I am providing links for three of these choreographers. Please after watching no less than six links, choose 3 in which to write about. You may as an alternative, write about one of the contemporary dance pieces that you found yourself on You- Tube. If you choose a piece from YouTube, it must be from a performance in a theatre. You may also choose one that a classmate has shared. If you choose one of these, you will still need to critique 2 from the links that I have provided. If you decide to include Bill T. Jones, you can find this on your own.
You will include in your title sentence and in the following sentences: the name of the choreographer, where did this piece take place, when it took place, what is the name of the dance piece, and why would you choose this piece to write about. If your feeling towards the piece were negative or positive, please write about that in the “Why” context. I do encourage you however to write about 3 pieces that you enjoyed.
In the next paragraph, Please describe the five elements of choreography: content, style, shape, rhythm, and space that you observed in the piece. Also include words that perhaps you may need to use a thesaurus. Find new words to describe the movement quality you observe in these pieces.
It will be helpful to perhaps do extra research on- line of the background of each choreographer. this may be placed in you introduction paragraph or in your conclusion. Please do finish this assignment with a strong sentence with your conclusion.
I will be using a rubric that will include excellent grammar, spelling, and writing skills. I will also be able to detect if you have copied and pasted in anything you send in… so please do not. This must be done in your own words only. If you need to copy anything, please write who wrote it and it must be in quotes. There will be no compromising on this. Use spell check and grammar check.
In summary, you will write a critique of three dances from 3 different choreographers.

Case Study B (50%):
Luke owns a lifeguard consulting company, supplying lifeguarding services to public and private schools in Edmonton. One of his female employees has made a complaint to the Alberta Human Rights Commission against Luke concerning gender discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace.
The employee alleges that she and the other women lifeguards were recently forced to wear newly issued skimpy company bikinis instead of the previous one-piece suits while performing their lifeguarding duties. Those who refused would be given last choice on shifts (which, practically speaking, meant that they would be getting no shifts). The complainant protested to Luke but eventually gave in since it was too late in the summer to find another job.
Additionally, the employee claims that, since the female staff was forced to wear the bikinis, Luke drops in constantly for site visits. His visits with females are more frequent and much longer lasting than with male staff. In fact, it is alleged that these visits have earned him the nickname of “Leering Luke.” Several female employees have told Luke that they find his behaviour unwelcome and are uncomfortable wearing the bikinis.
Luke knows about his nickname but stands behind his policy. According to Luke, business has increased and, as a result, there has been more to “supervise” at each visit.
Explain the concepts of gender discrimination and sexual harassment. Identify facts in the scenario which may support the employee’s claim and consider what other unstated facts, if proved, might also provide support. Identify a defense that Luke may raise. State your conclusion whether the situation involved discrimination or harassment, referring to the relevant facts and the strength of the defense.

8-1 Describe the structure of the Baron EQ/I assessment. How can this assessment lead to a better understanding of interacting with others? Explain.
Andre The Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory is a self-report assessment of emotional and social factors that gives an estimate of emotional and social intelligence (Bar-On, 2013). It is a 133-item inventory that scores five areas (intrapersonal and interpersonal factors. stress management skills, situational adaptability and general positive moods). The principle of Bar-On is that if one manages their own responses effectively, it will translate into positive interpersonal relationships with others (Bar-On, 2006). This is due to the idea that one needs to assess their emotional intelligence, in order to respond to their emotions effectively, which affects one’s emotional health and ultimately their psychological well-being (Bar-On, 2013). When these three factors are in balance and the person is not engaging in self-defeating behaviors, one can interact with others effectively as well.
Bar-On, R. (2006). The Bar-On Model of Emotional-Social Intelligence (ESI). Psicothema, 18, pp. 13-25. http://www.psicothema.com/pdf/3271.pdf
Bar-On, R. (2013). Reuven Bar-On. Retrieved May 15, 2020, from https://www.reuvenbaron.org/wp/
Tara, The structure of the Baron EQ/1 assessment assesses self-perception, interpersonal, decision making, stress management, and self-expression (High Performing Systems, Inc., n.d.). The EQ-i consists of 133 items in the form of short sentences and employs a 5-point response scale with a textual response format ranging from “very seldom or not true of me” (1) to “very often true of me or true of me” (5) (High Performing Systems, Inc., n.d.). It measures socially and emotionally intelligent behavior. Emotional intelligence is believed to be a critical determinant of life success (High Performing Systems, Inc., n.d.).
This assessment can lead to a better understanding of interacting with others because the knowledge gained helps guide actions and thoughts towards self and others. One may find new methods that allow their emotional intelligence to become stronger, therefore, providing them with the confidence needed for robust decision making.

This is my post Andre comment answer his comment below The full assessment of the combined emotional social intelligence comprise five major components, viz, Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, Stress Management, General Mood Scale, and Adaptability.
Intrapersonal reveals tendencies of self-regard, emotional self-awareness, assertiveness, independence, and self-determination.
Interpersonal focuses on empathy, social responsibility, and socialization.
Stress Management explores tolerance to stress, and self-control when overwhelmed with emotions.
General mood scale checks an individual’s hopefulness and joy.Adaptability deals with life skills especially problem solving techniques, versatility and acceptance of reality
How can EQ/I assessment lead to a better understanding of interacting with others? Explain. The components as aforementioned provide a reserve of data about the people around an individual. Proper use of the knowledge gathered from those around you helps one communicate better, handle conflicts peacefully, empathize and handle challenges with confidence (Unknown, 2015). If the behavior at workplace, feelings, and relationship is checked then the quality of life of those around you are likely to be inspired. Reference

Andre Hello Doris,
Your responses are indicative of the primary applicability of Bar-On to interpersonal relationships. Personal emotional well being can have an overwhelmingly positive impact on ho one participates in relationships, which can create healthy families, social structures and healthy communities. It does appear that the creators of Bar-On are looking to apply it more so to human performance in organizational settings. The goal is to maximize one’s potential and produce a concept of “star performer profiling” (Bar-On, 2013). The Bar-On is utilized to select, train and develop high performers by taking the Bar-On scores of employees that predict high performance, placing those employees in leadership training programs and matching the scores with employee performance reports two years after the initial assessment. It does seem that Bar-On has more immediate application in interpersonal relationships.

Lewis The ESI measures emotional and social intelligence behavior.

Its broken down into five areas; Stress management, self-perception, self-expression interpersonal and decision making. This covers more in-depth with emotional self-awareness, empathy, problem solving, impulse control and optimism. “In brief, the EQ-i contains 133 items in the form of short sentences and employs a 5-point response scale with a textual response format” (2006)
EI is a touch tricky as it should show the capacity to be aware and control ones emotions.

The tricky part is what side of the scale you are viewing it from. Slow or consistent picky or careful, when we measure things like this or at least in this manner it comes down to social perspective. Not a lot past that. That makes it at least hard for me to better understand how this can help with understanding others or even interacting with them. Sure there is a huge difference between acting out and not, that is why I used the examples that I did. My wife will tell you I am fussy, I would tell you I am meticulous. I would tell you that I am strong willed but others would say I am bossy. Again its all about perspective, and when things like that come down to it, there is no real right or wrong answers.

8-2 For what situations would the Baron EQ/I assessment be most appropriate or applicable? Explain.

The Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory measures emotional and social intelligence (Bar-On, 2013). Emotional intelligence involves abilities, competencies and skills related to understanding oneself and others, relating to peers and family members, and adapting to changing environmental situations and demands. The problem becomes when one uses emotional responses to life situations rather than effective problem-solving. Emotional responses can affect a person’s perspective and interfere with their ability to manage their situations effectivly. The situations in which the Bar-On EQ/I would be most useful are those in which emotional reactivity impacts one’s ability to manage their situations effectively. The two primary areas that I would use Bar-On are when the client is experiencing anger, sadness or anhedonia and this either causes decreased motivation or affects their interpersonal interactions with others either in their career or in their interpersonal relationships.

For this week’s discussion, I am going to focus on providing guidance on making a school safer through utilization of CPTED. The first thing that I would ask the school district to consider, is the installation of cameras all throughout the facility. In my experience, I have found that individuals tend to behave better knowing that the entire school is under constant video monitoring.
The pdf from our week 4 reading “CPTED 101: The Fundamentals for Schools,” provides excellent information on how to make new and existing schools safer through CPTED by offering, “three simple concepts: surveillance, access control, and territoriality.” These three concepts would be my next focus in presenting resolutions to their safety concerns for the school.
Surveillance refers to the ability of the school personnel to see throughout their school. Can they see who is coming or going? Are there large brick walls that block “hiding spots” or restrict ability for staff to see who is sneaking in or out of the building? If so, those walls should be replaced with windows or slotted gates that provide visibility. Large or overgrown trees and shrubs should be cleared and cut back as well to provide easy viewing inside and around the building. Any areas that may be good hiding spots throughout the building should be removed entirely or, “install convex mirrors to provide visibility around corners” (CPTED 101.pdf). Surveillance also encompasses the lighting throughout the school. There are mixed opinions on wether or not a school should remain well-lit after hours, with some finding that a dark, unlit property provides a deterrence. I would personally suggest that the school be dark after hours and note, “School resource officers have found that good lighting made schools ideal hangouts after hours, while darkness discouraged kids from congregating” (CPTED 101.pdf).
I would then advise the school district that access control is an absolute must for their school. All visitors should be directed to a single entrance that can be effectively monitored. All other entrances, to include windows, should be reconfigured, “so that they automatically lock when closed and only serve as emergency exits” (CPTED 101.pdf).
An important factor to consider in designing the safety for a school is the necessity to call a lockdown in the event of emergencies, such as active shooter incidents. For this reason, it is very critical that access into the building is reduced to a single point of entry, with the ability for staff to see who is approaching lock down the school with a push of a button if necessary. Clear line of sight from the main office would provide that time and ability to see any threat, and installation of an auto-lock feature and public address system would provide sufficient ability to lock the entrance and signal a lock-down.
Lastly, I would advise that territoriality be addressed. This is the process of establishing clear messaging of how the school is managed as well as clearly established boundaries around the property that let someone know they are on school grounds. This can be accomplished through well groomed hedges that line the property and signs that note “no trespassing on school property” after a certain time.
In closing, I would advise that providing proper surveillance, access control, and territoriality will will most certainly create a safer environment to the school.

When thinking about the violence and trying to ensure that schools are secure and safe, it takes careful planning and time to ensure top notch work to the last detail. Before the pandemic, students faced violence and the schools (some) really did not address the issue appropriately. The violence students faced were bullying, fighting, and cyber bullying. The way many schools were designed, with stairwells, sometimes students could easily walk into a bully who was standing around the corner and be attacked. Others were bold enough to push or forcefully hit the student causing her to fall and receive serious injuries. Fighting takes place in open and closed areas, preferably in closed areas such locker rooms or in the gym after classes were over for the day. Cyber bullying has been a problem that encouraged bullying and fighting. While in school bullies were able to still use the iPads, computers, and even their cell phones to harass and bully others. So with this knowledge, policies can be in place and enforced for those students who use the schools property to bully and/or harass students. Using the IP address for the computer or iPad, it can be traced to the student. Once identification is known, the device should be confiscated and the student expelled. Depending on the severity of the bullying or harassment, other charges can be given because the police can be called in. Many school districts look at this type of behavior when students are not in school as well.
It would be recommended to the board and others to revamp the stairwells by tearing down the walls and have open stairs without the walls. The only thing would be the handrails which leaves all open space where everything can be seen. This would be an ideal to plan for building new schools. Another factor to improve or create would be surveillance cameras at everydoor entrance. There should the same type of cameras at the doors inside the gym, cafeteria, even at the outside of these places. To respect the privacy of students cameras would not be inside the bathrooms or locker rooms. However there needs to be some at the entrances. While there are entrances around the schools to be used as fire escapes these doors should be the type that have silent alarm when it is opened or someone props it open for unlawful entrance or exit. The cameras would have the person on camera to help identify the person or persons. There needs to be one entrance to go in and out of the school. Cameras would be in place at each entrance along with metal detectors to pass through. In the office, any person who will be moving through the school will have to get a pass with his or her picture on the pass which is taken after signing in. This is to be worn on the clothing to be seen and identified as having permission to be going to a designated class or area. These are just some thoughts as to how our schools can be made safer. 1 page / approx 275 words | APA | English (US) 🇺🇸 | Essay | Literature & Language | Undergraduate |
