Marlie carries on a business of selling new and used lamps. In 2009, she obtained an operating line of credit from the Bank of Nova Scotia. Marlie gave the bank a security interest in all her present and future assets. Jordan is a dealer in imported chandeliers. He and Marlie agree that he will give her possession of a dozen chandeliers to sell on his behalf. Marlie is not obliged to pay for the chandeliers unless she keeps them for more than 30 days. Case Study B (50%):
Luke owns a lifeguard consulting company, supplying lifeguarding services to public and private schools in Edmonton. One of his female employees has made a complaint to the Alberta Human Rights Commission against Luke concerning gender discrimination and sexual harassment in the workplace.
The employee alleges that she and the other women lifeguards were recently forced to wear newly issued skimpy company bikinis instead of the previous one-piece suits while performing their lifeguarding duties. Those who refused would be given last choice on shifts (which, practically speaking, meant that they would be getting no shifts). The complainant protested to Luke but eventually gave in since it was too late in the summer to find another job.
Additionally, the employee claims that, since the female staff was forced to wear the bikinis, Luke drops in constantly for site visits. His visits with females are more frequent and much longer lasting than with male staff. In fact, it is alleged that these visits have earned him the nickname of “Leering Luke.” Several female employees have told Luke that they find his behaviour unwelcome and are uncomfortable wearing the bikinis.
Luke knows about his nickname but stands behind his policy. According to Luke, business has increased and, as a result, there has been more to “supervise” at each visit.
Explain the concepts of gender discrimination and sexual harassment. Identify facts in the scenario which may support the employee’s claim and consider what other unstated facts, if proved, might also provide support. Identify a defense that Luke may raise. State your conclusion whether the situation involved discrimination or harassment, referring to the relevant facts and the strength of the defense.

Case Study A:
In this case, Marlie obtained an operating line of credit from the Bank of Nova Scotia. She gave a continuing security interest, in the nature of a chattel mortgage, over her present and future properties. During the operation of her business, Jordan, a dealer of imported chandeliers, consigned Marlie with a dozen chandeliers to sell on his behalf. There was an agreement between both Marlie and Jordan that Marlie is not obliged to pay for the chandeliers, unless she keeps the same for more than 30 days.
Soon after, Marlie defaulted in the payment of her loan, and the Bank of Nova Scotia naturally proceeds against the securities mortgaged by Marlie, including the dozen chandeliers that Jordan consigned to Marlie. Jordan protests the seizure of the dozen chandeliers, arguing that they are his.
Jordan will be entitled to gain the chandeliers, depending on whether or not the 30 day period have elapsed.
The contract of consignment between Jordan and Marlie is worded as such to the effect that Marlie will gain ownership over the dozen chandliers after the lapse of 30 days. The 30 days acts as a suspensive period relative to the rights of Marlie as consignee over the dozen chandeliers. During such period, she has no right of ownership over the chandeliers. She is only contracted to sell them. The ownership over the dozen chandeliers still remains with Jordan, according to the tenor and nature of the contract of consignment. Marlie only enjoys the right of possession over the chandeliers, with the right of ownership still being retained by Jordan. Jordan only assigns Marlie his right to dispose of the property. In a way, Marlie is only acting as an agent of Jordan.
However, after the lapse of the 30 day period, the ownership over the dozen chandeliers is then transferred to Marlie.

You have to keep in mind also that your plan is not intended to summarize the results of analysis and responses. It is supposed to describe how the communications management processes would be executed and who would do that work. Think of your plan as providing instructions to the project team as to how to do the necessary work in this area.

Instructions: In no more than six sentences, explore the connection between your two annotated passages in the following way.
Pick two passages from the novel Beloved, Pick one motif or technique shared by both passages and compare and contrast how this technique or motif is used in each. Then imagine what problem or question the novel is trying to think through in these two passages. Your claim should articulate your judgment about what important question or problem is at issue in these passages. You do not have to say how the novel solves this problem or answers this question. In fact, you should not attempt to. Your task is use close analysis of the language of the passages to identify that question with as much nuance and precision as you can.

In fact, you should not attempt to. Your task is use close analysis of the language of the passages to identify that question with as much nuance and precision as you can.
Hint 1: Perhaps the best way to make a claim about what question the passages are preoccupied with is to use the following template:
Through the motif/technique of _____________, these passages pose the question of what/how/why/to what extent/under what conditions __________________.
In the blank there should be at least one noun, maybe more, and at least one verb, and the noun should name the crucial topic that the passages are exploring. If you decide not to use this template, you may be avoiding the task in the prompt.
Hint 2: Motif should not be confused with topic or theme. Remember that a motif is a concrete image or phrase that is repeated across the novel and that out of which a significant pattern is made. Death or memory are topics; “rememory” or “chokecherry tree” or 124’s “white staircase” or “pieces” or “weight” or “A man ain’t nothin but a man” are motifs. A novel like Beloved says what it has to say about the topics it is concerned with by developing its motifs in the way that it does.
Hint 3: Although you do not have to focus on point of view as your technique, you should be mindful of which characters’ thoughts are being reported in the passages you’ve chosen. As we’ve seen, the narrative function within this novel is almost always to report the thoughts of particular characters. 1 page / approx 275 words | APA | English (US) 🇺🇸 | Essay | Literature & Language | Undergraduate |

Instructions: Urinalysis
This is a Hands-On Labs exercise that explores the characteristics of urine and what can cause those characteristics to change. You will be doing a visual inspection of urine and testing it with urinalysis test strips to assess the concentration of various compounds that may be present.
Procedure
Follow the directions for the Urinalysis experiment. Perform both parts: fasting and drinking distilled water. Record the data from the visual inspection and from the test strips in tables. Use that data to write a report, following the directions below for submission. **You do not need to submit the Lab Report Assistant**.
Create a Report
Use the following outline to describe the data from your lab in a report. Label each portion of the lab as described below.
Introduction: Start with a broad discussion of urine formation, and then narrow your focus to the question(s) that you are trying to answer. Conclude the introduction with a hypothesis—a statement that reflects what you believe the outcome of this lab will be. It’s a good idea to include a discussion of how you think each characteristic of urine tested will change between the fasting and distilled water consumption parts.
Material List: Identify all items that you used and the exact quantities, as applicable. This may be a very short section.
Methods: Describe how you conducted the experiment, including any safety precautions you took while performing the lab. Be sure to include any changes that you made to the original instructions. Did you use different exercises? This should be a short, paraphrased version of the methods from the lab. Do not copy from the lab; Turnitin will highlight it as plagiarism.
Results/Data: Create a table or a figure that reflects/compares the results of your experiment.
Discussion: Review your results and determine if your experiment supports or refutes your hypothesis. Explain why. Then expand your discussion to address why and how your body creates the changes you observed as you increased the level of hydration. What effect does fasting have on the results? Be specific and give details.
Conclusion: End with a section describing something that really intrigued you; identify errors that may have impacted your results, or note errors in the lab itself; and provide recommendations for future labs.
Requirements:
If you are doing the report, it should be 4-5 pages long, not including the title page.
Reference at least two journal articles.
Include a title page and references at the end.

Instructions: Hi, Please read the instructions for this assignment below. Please let me know which topic would you like to write about. The books we read so far including The Iliad and The Odyssey both by Homer, The Oresteia, Genesis, Job, and Sappho if not, winter. I would personally recommend to write The Iliad or odyssey. I must show proof of attendance to the Museum. You can find pictures online and please let me know which museum in NYC and topic did you pick then I will go there and take a picture of the one you write to show attendance. I would greatly appreciate it! just like the last assignment you did, do not use many big or really complicated words, but the ideas and structure of the essay must be super CLEAR. Thank you
Want to ignore historical context and focus on your experience and your own analysis of the cultural piece. You may want to consider your own experience at the museum or theatrical event. And. discuss how this experience reshaped your interpretation or relationship to a text(s) we read this past semester. (Museum: what pieces were around it? Was the piece displayed as part of a theme, historical period, or an artist’s work? How did that shape your interaction with it?
Theater: what was the production like? The sets? Costumes? The spectacle?) It is up to you. and there are many other ways you can approach this writing piece.
OPTION TWO: For option two. discuss the connection between your creation and a text we read. You might approach this like a book review or artist exhibit review in a newspaper, discussing the major themes you sought to develop. Or. you might reflect on the process of making your work – what choices did you make in crafting your poetry/music/film etc.? Why? What inspired you initially from the original work that led to your creation? How did the process of creating this work make you appreciate a new aspect of the texts we read or the authors who wrote them? Again, it is up to you. and there are many other ways you can approach this writing piece.
1 Core in Contemporary Culture Due: Nov 8th1.1 The Core and Contemporary Culture Assignment:

These may be found through a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art or attendance of a performance (theater, poetiy. dance, etc.) in NYC. Write an analysis examining the piece/pieces you chose to discuss, relating them to the literature we have read, and how the engagement with the pieces you chose makes you think reflect understand the literature we have read this semester. As creativity is a component of the assignment, be selective in picking what you want to write about.
2) Alternatively, you may develop your own creative project (visual art. theater, poetiy. dialogue, letter). In addition to submitting your piece, you must write an analysis explaining how your work interprets and relates to literature we have read. Grading of this assignment will be based to some degree on creativity but mostly on your ability to present a clear, organized piece of writing that demonstrates an engagement with the text.
DUE: The written assignments are due 11/9. In addition to submitting your written piece, you must show proof of attendance (photos of tickets or attendance/selected pieces) that may be submitted via email.
For those of you going on the Met Tour. be creative in your selection of what work you want to use for your assignment. You may want to pick a piece not discussed on the torn- itself. You are welcome to go to the Met on your own time and pick a piece.
**It is not necessary to construct an argument in the way that you do for the analytic essays. However, your essay, should be organized, and an argument or at least a clear introduction explaining the piece that you selected or created and its connection to the text(s) this past semester, may be helpful. I would also encourage you to make the connection between the cultural piece and what you saw obvious. Show engagement both with the text we read this past semester and draw connections between the text and the cultural piece you chose. You should cite or reference the text as needed.
OPTION ONE: If you are doing option ONE. you have a variety of options. You may want to consider the historical context in which the cultural piece you selected was created. 3 pages / approx 825 words | English (US) 🇺🇸 | Essay | Literature & Language | MLA | Undergraduate |

In the Bible it says, “So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:23). Computer usage policy is not meant to supersede the organization’s general policies, but rather to complement them.
Therefore, based upon this week’s topics and research, create a general computer usage policy for your corporation, keeping in mind that being able to use a computer is a privilege, not a right, and this privilege comes with personal responsibility.
Additionally, create a set of recommendations for group policy settings by analyzing the implications of Christian worldview in light of human value and dignity.
Your final policy should be 500-750 words in length.

Instructions: We need to research and write about a biological influence and psychological/social influence on a chosen facet of sexuality. I have attached a topics list to pick from. I would prefer the topic “pair bonding” but it is largely up the the writer based on the sources they find. We need to find four primary sources to cite to support our claims, two primary sources to support the biological influence on our facet of sexuality and two primary sources to support the the psychological/social influence. I’ve also attached assignment instructions and the rubric, and an APA guide.
PSYCH 204 HUMAN SEXUALITY Research Assignment
Instructions
Select one facet of human sexuality (e.g., sexual orientation, gender identity, attraction) and discuss BOTH of the following: • A biological influence on your chosen topic • A psychological or social influence on your chosen topic
The purpose of this assignment is to help you develop insight into the biological, social, and psychological perspectives that inform issues of human sexuality. As we have seen, many topics in this course are multifaceted and have multiple influencing factors. Examples of topics and hints about what would make an appropriate topic are posted to D2L.
The assignment is worth 16% of your final grade. Without approved documentation, late assignments will be penalized 10% per day, including weekends. Documentation must be submitted before the deadline to be considered.
Citations
You will need to cite two primary sources for the biological influence and two primary sources for the psychological/social influence, for a total of four primary sources. A primary source includes a book or a peer-reviewed journal article. Using a magazine (such as Scientific American) is not a proper peer-reviewed source and will not get you full marks. Do not use Wikipedia for your references, as Wikipedia is open to edit by anyone and is not peer-reviewed.
Remember that you MUST cite every idea that you write about that is not your own. Even if you just cited the same source in the sentence before. When in doubt, include a citation.
It is better to paraphrase an idea than to directly quote it – use direct quotes sparingly and only when they are really necessary for impact. Remember though that when you paraphrase it is still an idea from another source and it must be cited.
Format
The total assignment will be a maximum of four pages, not including your cover page and reference (i.e., up to six pages altogether including the cover page and reference page). Use Times New Roman, 12 pt font, double spaced. Use 1” margins on the page.
You must follow proper APA formatting to get full marks (details about APA formatting are posted to D2L) 4 pages / approx 1100 words | APA | Psychology | Research Paper | Undergraduate |
Instructions: Prompt: The interactions among characters in a drama is often associated with the acquisition, the holding or the loss of power. By what means and with what effects have plays in your study addressed power relations?
Using the elements of fiction document, the layers of critical thinking document, and the dramatic techniques document, analyze two of the plays that we have studied (Master Harold…and the Boys and A Streetcar Named Desire) with regard to the question above, and create a thesis that states your assertion.
Remember that the Paper Two Exam is a traditional thematic essay in which you must answer the question you choose. In answering that question, you must create an assertion which serves as your comprehensive thesis and which addresses the following:
(1) the author’s intentions with regard to that question;
(2) the literary features he uses and how he uses them with regard to that question;
(3) the overall impact on the reader.
Please provide an introduction in which you hook your reader and state your assertion (comprehensive thesis) that answers the question. In multiple paragraphs, give a body that fully addresses all of the aspects of your answer to the question with textual support from the play. End with a conclusion that recapitulates your thesis and leaves your reader with a larger take-away from the experience of the play.
Remember to proofread before submission, please, and check for errors in grammar and punctuation. Write with intelligence, depth, and support.
