Is Myth supposed to be a Substitute for Science?
Myths have always been a part of the rich history of any society. From the Ancient Greeks and to the Amazonians, myths have always been a part of a society’s culture to which some people believe in. However, myths have a much greater purpose rather than being a tale to tell during gatherings. In ancient times it serves as a foundation for the moral and spiritual code of the people. It is also one of the things that help humans understand the different phenomena that they experience during the times when the rational explanation for them has yet to be discovered. In this article, I would discuss some of the functional usages of myths during the early times. Thus, in the succeeding sections of this article, the author would discuss the distinction between the usages of myth during the early times and the current period. All in all, while I would argue that myths have been used as a replacement for science during the early period, its usage for today is only intended for artistic and cultural purposes.
The Purpose of the Myth
During the early days, people do not have any ways of conducting a rational and objective analysis of what is happening around them. Science was only in its early days and most of the works in the field come from the minds of the philosophers who were more of an ‘armchair’ thinker rather than a scientist. Nonetheless, humans have always inclined to know the causes and origins of things. Such knowledge forms part of the human identity to which most philosophers strive to understand with the help of philosophical thinking. However, due to the lack of a scientific way to understand things, humans have created the myths to justify some of the fundamental questions that they such as the “origins of humans itself”.

Instructions: Assignment 1: The Annotated Bibliography – Due Week 3
Project Overview: For this project, you’ll choose a food or drink item, a cuisine, an invention, or an idea, and then research how four geographic concepts are related to and affect your topic. Instead of presenting your research as a traditional paper, you’ll use PowerPoint to create a narrated presentation. Your presentation will be structured like a paper, including a title, introduction to the topic, main body, summary and conclusions, and references. Creative use of properly cited graphics and photos from the Internet relevant to your topic is required.
First, choose a food item, cuisine, invention, or idea that interests you. Some will have more information available about them than others, so it’s worth doing some investigation before you settle on one. If you’re not sure if your desired topic is appropriate, please feel free to ask!
Once you have selected your topic, you will then do research to see how each of the following geographic concepts affects or is related to your topic:1. Regions 2. Cultural Landscape 3. Diffusion 4. Distance decay. The first two concepts are covered in the first chapter of your textbook. Diffusion is covered in Chapter 8, Section 2 (page 484). Distance decay refers to the fact that influence and interaction between locations decreases as the distance between them increases. As such, it has a significant influence on how things change as they diffuse away from their point of origin. Be sure to address these specific geographic terms and concepts in your work. You don’t need to address them in this order, but you do need to address all of them. You may use “subsets” of these definitions (e.g. contagious diffusion) if such subsets exist. Be sure to refer to your text and other reliable resources to ensure you completely understand these concepts. You should be detailed in your treatment of these concepts – for instance, you should explain both how and why your choice varies by region, and how and why it has been affected by distance decay. Remember that geography, as an academic discipline, seeks to explain why things vary from place to place, not just describe how they do.
You will complete this project in 3 separate assignments: an annotated bibliography, an outline, and your final presentation. In this assignment, you will complete your annotated bibliography. Completing the project in separate assignments allows you to work your way up to the final presentation, and provides opportunity for feedback along the way.
Assignment Objective: Assess sources for your research for your final presentation (for credibility, reliability, and relevance) and list references in proper APA format through the creation of an annotated bibliography.
Assignment Instructions: An annotation is a summary and evaluation, and your annotated bibliography will include a summary and evaluation of some of the sources (or references) you will use for your presentation.
To prepare for this assignment, I recommend that you do the following:
Read these directions carefully.
Review the sample annotated bibliography provided to you below.
Read the grading criteria below. The grading criteria is a detailed evaluation that I will use to assess your performance. It also will help you understand what is expected you as you prepare your assignment.
Message me with any questions!
The reason the annotated bibliography is included as part of the research project is that writing an annotated bibliography provides excellent preparation for the final presentation. One of the issues regarding any type of research is the credibility of the sources used, particularly those obtained from various websites. By forcing you to evaluate your potential sources carefully, the annotated bibliography helps you determine if the sources you chose are credible and relevant to your topic. It will also help you understand the topic better, which will help you develop your presentation.
For this project, you will assess three sources to include:
1) a complete citation for each source,
2) a summary of each source, and
3) an evaluation of each source.
Three sources are required for this assignment (i.e., you are to write an annotation for each source). However, you must use five or more sources in your final presentation.
Use the TEMPLATE below to summarize and evaluate each of your three sources.
Citation:
Written in APA reference list format. For more help with formatting, see APA handout
Summary:
What is the purpose of the source, review article, original research? What topics are covered? This section is generally 3-5 sentences that summarize the author’s main point. For more help, see this link on paraphrasing sources.
Evaluation:
After summarizing the article (or research paper or book), it is necessary to evaluate it and state where you found it – its source (e.g.,journal, website, etc.). Briefly answer the following questions in 3-5 sentences:
What is the format or type of source (e.g., peer-reviewed journal paper, website, book)? How reliable is the information in the article, and how credible is the source (e.g., website’s sponsoring organization, journal or book publisher) and the author(s)?
For more help, see this handout on evaluating resources.

The pandemic plunged the US economy into a sudden economic recession in February. Congress responded with one round of stimulus checks for citizens and are discussing a second. Are providing citizens a stimulus check fiscal or monetary policy, Keynesianism or supply-side economics? Define these 4 terms. Then, assume the role of economic advisor to Congress and the president. Should they use fiscal or monetary policy or both to bring the US economy out of the sudden recession? Keynesianism or supply-side economics? Use history and past economic policy to justify your argument. What are the consequences of your approach for the US, which currently has over a $26 trillion dollar deficit?

Instructions: Cooperative Learning Groups
Research Design Exercise
This exercise is designed to help you choose a research design for your proposal. Use your cooperative learning group to help you settle on a final design. I don’t expect anyone to be able to answer all of these questions right now. However, finding the answers to these questions will help guide your final proposal.
Instructions
Take 15–20 minutes and answer as many of the questions that follow as possible. You have answered some of these questions in the past; others will be new for you. Remember, it is okay for your research questions or design to change as you learn more about the feasibility of your evaluation. Questions you don’t feel comfortable with or are unsure about, leave blank and ask your cooperative learning group for help.
1. What is your research question?
What are the major effective measures to support mental health program?
2. What is the outcome you are studying or what are the variables you are studying if it is not an outcome study?Better effectiveness in implementing mental health care program for individuals in the community.
3. Is this a qualitative or quantitative study? Does it have elements of both? Explain. This will be a Quantitative data in order to help one see the big picture of my research.
4. Is it a formative or summative evaluation? Explain. It will be a summative for me to be able to analyze my achievement in the end of my research.
5. What is the design of your study? What are the strengths of this design? What are the limitations? A case study design
6. From whom will you collect data? Staff members /co-workers
7. Will you use a sample? If so what is your sampling strategy?
8. What method will you use to collect the data (survey, interviews, administrative or secondary data, etc.)? Convenience
9. Are there any ethical or IRB issues with your study?
After completing as many of these questions as possible, meet with your cooperative learning group. Each member of the group will present your research question(s) and summarize his or her design. Then, the presenting group member should share questions with which they are struggling. As a group, discuss next steps for the presenting member’s final research or evaluation proposal. We will discuss requirements for the final research proposal during next week’s session. In addition, provide the following feedback to each presenter:
1. If he or she has presented a design, identify one threat to the internal validity of the study (Remember, this does not mean you have to change your design, you just have to be aware of this limitation. All studies have limitations.).
2. Provide one suggestion for how you think the study can be improved or made more feasible. 1 page / approx 275 words | APA | English (US) 🇺🇸 | Research Proposal | Social Sciences | Undergraduate |

Instructions: Can choose between opinion piece or creative project below, please choose one first and leave a message for me.
【Opinion Piece】 Select a news story that is capturing the imagination of the world with regard to social media or one of the concepts of the course. Go through approximately three to four different articles written on the topic (e.g. on removing harmful COVID-19 related stories from Twitter, an example of which appears in the following: https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/22/21231956/twitter-remove-covid-19-tweets-call-to-action-harm-5g (Links to an external site.)) and on the basis of your readings and knowledge of course concepts, readings and online discussions, form an informed opinion as to why that particular story is of importance in our society. You may want to consider what fears and hopes it holds and heralds or what impacts it may have on our society in the short and long run. Please use references (at least TWO scholarly sources, one of which, may be from the course readings) in your opinion piece. This assignment should be around 1000 words and formatted and referenced on the basis of the MLA or APA guidelines as long as you are consistent.
【creative projects】such as a (collection) of video(s), drawings, creative photographs and/or a web design may be submitted in lieu of the opinion piece; however, these projects must be worked out in collaboration with the professor and finalized a week in advance of the due date. The projects are accompanied with a rationale of approx. 550 words. Your rationale will include the “reason-why” you decided to embark on the project; what app(s) or means you used to go about your project; what message is encoded in your project and why. It may be worth noting that most students have opted to present creative videos on youtube. Refrain from taking an easy route (e.g. photoshopping your photo) to complete this component. You must use at least ONE scholarly source in your rationale (and it can be from the course readings). 1 page / approx 275 words | APA | Article | Health, Medicine, & Nursing | Undergraduate |
