Dear your friend’s name,

Hi! I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter in response to your question to me last week whether adopting a dog or a cat is best. I would like to outline some of the reasons why I believe that you should adopt a dog.

There is a reason why dogs are called man best friend because they have become our companions since prehistory. Our ancestors’ domesticated wolves so that tracking and hunting for food will be much easier. In modern days dogs are usually the most “go-to” when having a pet instead of cats because of their capabilities to protect humans and their home, they will patiently wait for you to get home and greet you with excitement. While cats on the other hand can be sometimes annoying because of their strange behaviors. In this letter, I will discuss what are the advantages of having a dog as a pet instead of a cat.

Perhaps the most obvious advantage of dogs is that they can bark thus alarming you when an unknown person tries to enter your house. They can be also trained to guard you against attackers. Numerous accounts are saying that dogs save humans from criminals. While cats seem to have no care when someones enter your house. Also, because dogs are very easy to teach new skills. Some dogs are trained to assist humans with Visual impairment to help them walk safely. They rely on the dog’s eyesight to navigate obstacles on their path thus making it safer for them to do everyday tasks without the help of other humans. As the previous statement said, dogs can be trained to learn new skills. They are known to save people drowning, herd sheep, check for contrabands, track down criminals and pull sleds they can even be taught to walk like humans. As opposed to cats that are difficult to teach new skills.

We experience things based on many factors, perception (a biological function) and means others see the world differently than we do. When we know that others do have the same experiences, do not see the same things, and have a different world view we can begin to acknowledge their differences as a result of their worldview and not always an absolute sense of knowing we are us and yet we alone are right. This is known as cultural relativism.

The purpose of this assignment is to analyze and review company report specifications. You will apply what you have learned in past principles of practice by completing one of the following options. The instructor will assign you a scenario that includes a corporation’s pertinent financial information. Using your corporation’s information and what you have learned in this course, develop a memo to your client, using the outline presented. The memo should be 500-750 words and must include the following information: 1. Explanation of the taxpayer’s business and issue at hand (heading: Facts). 2. Explanation of the IRS rules regarding the matter (also part of Facts). 3. Tax laws and applicable court cases to support the deductions, where applicable (heading: Analysis). 4. Conclusion as to the recommendations to the company (heading: Conclusion). The organization of the memo should present the headings in the following order: Facts, Conclusion, Analysis. The response should be formatted as a professional business memo to the client. Please save your assignment as a Word document with the filename: LastnameFirstInitial.ACC460.M.docx, where the M refers to Memo. Option 1 Problem: Adapted from I.11-66 in the textbook. Sonny Corporation has never been audited before the current year. An audit is now needed by a CPA because the company is expanding rapidly and plans to issue stock to the public. A CPA firm has been doing preliminary evaluations of the Sonny Corporation’s accounts and records. One major problem involves the valuation of inventory under GAAP. Sonny Corporation has been valuing its inventory under the cost method and no write-downs have been made for obsolescence. A review of the inventory indicates that obsolescence and excess spare parts in the inventory are two major violations of Accounting Periods and Methods. The CPA states that for GAAP the company will be required to write down its inventory by 25% of its stated amount, or $100,000, and charge this amount against net income from operations for the current period. Otherwise, an unqualified (i.e., a “clean opinion”) will not be rendered. The company controller asks your advice regarding the tax consequences from the obsolescence and spare parts inventory write-downs for the current year and the procedures for changing to the lower-of-cost-or-market (LCM) method for tax purposes. Sonny Corporation uses a calendar year for both book and tax purposes, and the date of your contact with the company is December 1 of the current year. A partial list of research sources includes: 446 and 471 Secs. 1.446-1(e)(3), 1.471-2 and 1.471-4 American Liberty Pipe Line Co. v. CIR, 32 AFTR 1099, 44-2 USTC ¶9408 (5th Cir., 1944) Thor Power Tool Co. v. CIR, 43 AFTR 2d 79-362,79-1 USTC ¶9139 (USSC, 1979)

PARADOX SETUP There are 10 identical boxes on a shelf, each with a padlock. There is only 1 key that can open all of these 10 boxes and Stu has the key. Prof places a unique token (called a “test”) into 1 of the 10 boxes. Stu then locks them all and leaves the room. Prof can move the boxes around in any way she wants, but she must line them up on the shelf from left to right. When Stu comes back into the room, he will open the boxes from left to right. Now imagine that Stu is playing against Prof in a game. The rules are that Prof wins if she can create an algorithm (i.e., a method) to guarantee that Stu is surprised when he opens the box that contains the token. So, Stu is absolutely certain that the test is in one of the boxes and he knows that Prof wants to win the game and will do her best to surprise Stu. Stu wins the game if Prof’s algorithm does not guarantee that Stu will be surprised. • If we assume that everyone involved is perfectly rational, who will win this game, Stu or Prof? • If you think that Prof will win, provide the strategy that you think she can win with, along with an explanation for why it guarantees that Stu will be surprised. • If you think that Stu will win, explain in detail why it will be impossible for Prof to come up with any algorithm that wins with 10 boxes. Will Stu win regardless of how many boxes Prof can use? Explain. CREATIVE BRIEF Assignment Client: Date: Assignment: Client Signed By: Briefed By (your names here): Due: PROJECT DESCRIPTION /1 This project should showcase the new slogan of Pepsi – Dare for More. It must have a strong impact to its viewers through the use of visual elements and a catchy storyline that would leave a sort of an emotional aftertaste to the viewers. In line with the current day issues, it must include the use of actresses as the protagonists, while also showing Pepsi in strategic focal points. WHAT ARE THE COMMUNCIATIONS OBJECTIVES? (Behaviour you’re trying to change) at least 2 /4 This video should show difference from the norm as envisioned in Pepsi’s slogan. This effect could be measured by the reactions of the people about the advertisement itself relative to the advertisements of our competitors. Based on the reactions of the audience to this difference, the brand could change its packaging to entice more customers. Additionally, this is relevant because of the strength of the competitors in establishing a strong brand identity. Lastly, this experiment would be done for this quarter. Another objective of the video is to show its concern for the current issues in society. The perceptions of the people towards this corporate social concern (i.e., current issues in feminism) could be measured through surveys (Bunting, 2004). By doing this, the company could also leverage helping others while also increasing its brand recognition relative to others. The observation for the results of this experiment would be done within a month. WHO IS THE TARGET AUDIENCE? /4 The target audience would be the youth who are residing in the urban areas. In terms of geographic segmentation, the advertisement would target those in the cities that has access to both the advertisement as well as the product itself. This would optimize the effectivity of the advertisement in communicating its message. As for demographic segmentation, it would focus on the youth. The primary reason for this is because people of old ae would have many dietary restrictions, and this allows soda. Thus, in order to increase the effectivity of the commercial, we would focus more on the said population. In terms of behavioral segmentation, it would be best to direct the advertisements towards both who already knows Pepsi as well as those who don’t. However, focusing on those who don’t would also be effective as it would help increase its consumer base (Trott, 2016). In terms of psychographic segmentation, focusing on the youth would be advantageous because of the trend these days to “think differently”. In turn, through the consumption of the product, this message would be emphasized. WHAT IS THE CONSUMER INSIGHT? /2 “I think that these days, doing things ‘differently’ also refers to the company’s focus towards giving back to the society. This is what a strong brand means. A brand that resonates with the issues happening around them”. WHAT IS THE BENEFIT WE ARE TRYING TO COMMUNICATE? /2 The benefit that we are trying to communicate is the chance to be “different” and the idea to achieve more WHAT CAN WE OFFER AS SUPPORT FOR THIS? /1 In order to realize this project, Pepsi would offer all of the support that it could provide as long as it is within the scope of the conditions and agreements provided thereof. This includes financial, logistics, and informational support among others. WHAT IS THE BRAND’S CREATIVE STRATEGY/CAMPAIGN THEME? Campaign Theme /1 The main campaign theme would revolve around Pepsi’s current slogan “Dare for More” *Appeal Technique(s) /2 In order to increase the appeal of the advertisement, we would include general issues these days and incorporate it to the overall theme of the advertisement. *Creative Tactic(s) /2 We would also include throngs of people singing in the background in unison. The song must be one that would elicit a strong emotional appeal. WHAT’S REQUIRED / MANDATORIES/ EXECUTIONAL CONSIDERATIONS? /2 This video must put into focus Pepsi’s slogan, have a relevance to current day issues, and have a strong emotional appeal to all the viewers.
