Overview
There are many types of auctions, each with strengths and weaknesses at uncovering the real price or value of an item. Auctions are widely used in finance, e-commerce, and e-games. They are also widely used to generate revenue for not-for-profit organizations.
The following video describes auctions as price discovery mechanisms:
The Ideal Auction(https://www(dot)youtube(dot)com/watch?v=4kWuxfVbIaU)
Use the video on auctions and at least three academic or high-quality business publications (see acceptable types below) to compare and contrast English auctions and Dutch auctions, and sealed-bid first-price auctions and Vickery auctions.
Acceptable Types of Publications
A high-quality, professional business publication is one that is primarily directed at reporting or analyzing the workings of the business. Examples are the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, and Reuters. Avoid general news publications such as USA Today, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. Please do not rely on Wikipedia, Investopedia, or similar websites as references

There are many types of auctions, each with strengths and weaknesses at uncovering an item’s real price or value. Compare and contrast how each of the following uncovers value:
English and Dutch auctions.
Price auctions have been one of the most common methods used to reveal the real or the estimation price. Accordingly, some of the most common types of auctions include the Dutch and the English auctions.
On the one hand, English auctions are the type wherein bidders submit their bid one against the other, in an ascending manner, and the last one to submit the highest bid wins. In line with this, the straightforward manner of competing against one another and the transparency in the costs offered by the buyers are some of the significant advantages of an English auction compared to a Dutch auction.
On the other hand, Dutch auctions are when the auctioneer is the one that would initially set a cost and the bidders and decreases the same value throughout the auction until one of the bidders finally accepts the cost of the bid. Compared to the other, the main advantage of this type of auction is the reduction of the “increase between the offer price and the opening price of the offering”, which could be beneficial in estimating the real value of the thing (Hensel, 2005).

Sealed-bid first-price auctions and Vickery auctions.

One of the main differences between a sealed bid first price and a Vickery auction is their following method. On the one hand, the kind of auction in a sealed-bid first-price auction is discreet. Bidders are asked to place their auctions in a sealed envelope that, ideally, only they should know. Accordingly, whoever places the first and highest bid gets the bid. One of the main advantages of this type of auction could be seen in the case of Real Estate. Since every bidder for a real estate submits their “sealed bids,” the auctioneer or seller could get high valuations without limitation from the actual bids of the bidders (Kenton, 2021).

Please after watching no less than six links, choose 3 in which to write about. You may as an alternative, write about one of the contemporary dance pieces that you found yourself on You- Tube. If you choose a piece from YouTube, it must be from a performance in a theatre. You may also choose one that a classmate has shared. You will include in your title sentence and in the following sentences: the name of the choreographer, where did this piece take place, when it took place, what is the name of the dance piece, and why would you choose this piece to write about. If your feeling towards the piece were negative or positive, please write about that in the “Why” context. I do encourage you however to write about 3 pieces that you enjoyed. In the next paragraph, Please describe the five elements of choreography: content, style, shape, rhythm, and space that you observed in the piece. Are there relevant popular resources you may use?). While your particular primary and secondary texts are up to you, everyone must select from within the following three umbrella topics: • The empowerment or disenfranchisement of particular social groups through the use of comedy, including race, class, and/or gender o Consider comics who take on race, class, gender, sexuality explicitly in their work and examine how they engage those topics and to what end. • The rhetorical value of irony o Consider comics like Stephen Colbert who employ irony as their primary method of advancing an argument – what are they able to accomplish through those ends and are there limits? • Rhetorical transgression o Consider comics who “go too far.” What can an examination of how a particular comic has gone too far help us understand our culture and society? In this week’s lesson, and in previous weeks, we have discussed works of art and the contexts in which they exist/are shown. How does seeing an object in its original context, and in a new (and perhaps unintended) context, change the way a work of art communicates? What, for example, is the difference between seeing a medieval altarpiece in the context of the church ( and perhaps a particular chapel) for which it was made versus seeing the same altarpiece at the Museum of Fine Arts behind glass? Or, seeing a Minimalist cube in a gallery for which it was made versus outdoors in an open-air courtyard at the Museum of Modern Art? Along with the differences, are there any similarities in the two experiences (“original” versus new settings)? Please note that the point here is not to choose a “favorite” setting (original or new), but simply to reflect on the similarities and differences in the experience of the work of art when its setting has changed. Finally, can you cite at least one example of a work of art discussed in this course in which the original setting has been changed? Discuss. Post your thoughts, following the instructions below. The latter two sources may not be extended, but must be retained. ENGLISH 1100 – COMPOSITION I WRITING PROJECT 3: WRITING WITH RESEARCH – TOPIC GUIDELINES Word count: 1,500 (about 6 pages) Grade Value: 25% Sources to be used for Writing Project #3: • Your own ideas and experiences from either your Writing Project 1 (Writing from Personal Experience) to illustrate your ideas. Topic and purpose for Writing Project #3: Topic: Looking back on the experiences you described about a community problem in Writing Project 1 (Writing from Personal Experience). In Writing Project #3, you will formulate a claim about the question and argue that claim based on personal experience and fact-based evidence. Purpose: In Writing Project #3, your question—and the answer to that question—will reflect your stance (a “claim”) on the issue you’re addressing in your essay. You will formulate and argue the claim using source material that provides fact-based evidence, and you will illustrate your claim about the issue by using your own personal experience. What Writing Project #3 is not: WP#3 is not an informative essay or a “how-to” essay. You will not address the reader directly or use source material that offers “advice” to the reader. Your essay must argue a claim about an issue. Process for Developing Writing Project #3: Develop and organize your WP3 first version: Using your outline as a template, develop your ideas to create a WP3 first version: • Create an introduction: Refer to your experience you told a story about in Writing Project #1 then transition into the broader issue that this experience raised. Ask your “main” question about the community problem and provide a thesis that states your claim in answer to the question. • Develop supporting paragraphs (from your supporting points in your outline): Introduce each supporting paragraph with a topic sentence about a specific aspect of your claim that you want to explore. After each topic sentence, present information (from your own experience and ideas and from source material, correctly cited) that expands on idea in the topic sentence. • Write a conclusion: Refer back to your experiences in Writing Project 1 and reflect on your own experience and what you learned from your research that can help your community. • Format a works cited listing to include citations for the outside sources, formatted in MLA style. • Follow guidelines for development of ideas and use and citation of source material. Wp3 first versions that do not meet the minimum word requirement (1,500 words) and do not correctly use and cite sources both in-text and in the Works Cited listing will have points deducted. Write your final version of Writing Project 3 (100 points): Based on the comments of your peer review partner(s) and the instructor as well as your own ideas for revision, you will decide if you want to revise to create a WP3 final version. WP3 final versions that do not have correctly cited sources both in-text and in the Works Cited listing will not receive a passing grade; once a final version is submitted, you will not have an opportunity to revise.
