Water is a crucial element for making Carbonated Vodka. In fact, water makes up about 70% of the vodka per bottle (DiffordsGuide.com, n.d.). However, finding the water with the right composition is crucial, not only to create the perfect taste, but also to ensure that the fermentation process is done correctly. Thus, before the beverage is created, distillers would either have to find a water supply that has the right component or to treat ‘purify’ the water in order to make it suitable.
On the one hand, the addition of water (hydration) can be done if the distillery has an adequate supply of water that is low in ion and salts. Such kind of water (also known as softened water) is essential because the presence of metallic salts (such as sodium, chloride, and magnesium) could give the final result an adverse reaction that would prevent it from acquiring the “clean spirit” (Warwicker, 1963).

Provide a thoughtful and well developed visual analysis based on the techniques practiced leading up to this assignment. The final product should be a 2-page paper.
Your initial reading is a close examination of the work you’ve chosen before you read about it. In order to describe what you see, you might consider:
What do you notice first? Why? What do the colors convey? How? How is the space occupied? Is there a foreground and a background (2D) or is the piece sculptural (3D) with mass and volume? Is there an implied shape, such as a triangle, square, or circle, that brings balance to the composition? Are there diagonal lines that make it dynamic?
Next, read the materials provided about the work of art. You are welcome to do additional research on the internet as long as you use reputable websites, such as those from museums and art publications. Go back to your piece and take an even closer look. Think about what you’ve read and what you see. How does its meaning deepen from additional information the work of art?
Then, consider how the formal elements play into the artist’s intention or audience’s interpretation of the work. Making connections and observations about form and content are the key to writing a strong analysis. Remember to cite as appropriate. Refer to your Plagiarism Quiz as a refresher.

Instructions: Essay #4: Comedy, the first person, & empathy
English 110
Background: In this unit, we’ll watch two comedy specials that function as monologues and soliloquys: Hannah Gadsby’s “Nanette” and Hasan Minhaj’s “Homecoming King.” Both of these pieces are like first-person essays, or like memoir, combined with an artistic, deliberate visual performance. These comics use their comedy as a way to discuss difficult issues, like homophobia, sexual assault, racism, and class. We’ll also read critical essays on first-person writing itself, and consider how these theories can help us understand these comics’ messages.
Every choice the comic makes—what words they choose, their punchlines and repetition, their eye contact, their movement, their gestures—are all a part of their message. The way they tell their story is as important as the story itself. Their first-person narrative and performance help us, the audience, feel empathy for the speaker in different ways, and help us accept difficult issues that we might not accept otherwise.
Learning Goals: Your goal for this essay is to expand your knowledge of close reading of literary elements (essay #1), analysis of broader themes and structures (essay #2), integrating a real-world lens (essay #3), and combine all of these skills into one coherent, analytical argument.
The task:
Choose one of the comedians from this unit, and then write a 1,500-word essay answering the following questions:

Instructions: 1. Why do you think Alexie in Absolutely True Diary and Baldwin in “Sonny’s Blues” decided to tell their stories partly through artforms other than words? We see many of Junior’s drawings, and in several styles, and Baldwin uses contrasting musical styles as a key motif in “Sonny’s Blues.” Write one or two paragraphs on each work (do not compare and contrast.) For background on Alexie, read the interview with illustrator Ellen Forney at the back of ‘Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.” Why does the book use contrasting styles and how does it tie in with writing styles/moods from chapter to chapter?
For Baldwin, listen to and learn about the radical change from traditional jazz (like Louis Armstrong), to modern Bebop (‘Bird’/Charlie Parker). Do some web research before you write. Why did many middle-class, religious, and older blacks attack and dislike Bebop? Who in ‘Sonny’s Blues’ is aligned with each? Why do you think Baldwin uses contrasting jazz styles and gospel music to tell this particular story about an African American artist and his family?
2. Select one key character in Go Tell It on the Mountain who is not given a separate chapter (ie, not John, Gabriel, Florence, Elizabeth). How is that character treated as both believable, complex, and human, yet also at the same time as a symbolic, even Biblical figure? What part does he or she play in the intertwined stories of racist violence, prayers, visions, sin, and redemption?

Your plan should be written in a narrative format, providing ample description within each section. It is not sufficient to simply provide a series of bulleted lists of materials! There is no length constraint, but plans do not have to be long!
You have to keep in mind also that your plan is not intended to summarize the results of analysis and responses. It is supposed to describe how the communications management processes would be executed and who would do that work. Think of your plan as providing instructions to the project team as to how to do the necessary work in this area.
Do your own work and make sure you answer all the questions.
It will submit on the Turnitin.
